FX Should the FX Dynamic in .35 cal Be Considered in the "Big Bore Airgun Hunting" Category?

When I first got into airguns I started with .35 cal thinking it was going to be a good mix of not too big like a .50 cal (this was back in 2017) and not too small like a .308. What I found was that the .35 cal sits in this weird spot in the airgun world where you really need to understand the terminal performance of your ammo. Ya gotta remember that 200 FPE is still the same as a .22LR high velocity firearm ammo. But FPE doesn't tell the full story either. A .35 inch hole in an animal is more lethal than a .22 inch hole, but penetration is the bigger consideration when you start getting above anything bigger than a raccoon. After MONTHS of testing, I have found some ammo selections that can make the FX Dynamic the ultimate Airgun hunting platform. The FX Dynamic .35 cal big bore airgun just took power and precision to the next level!

The FX Dynamic .35 cal big bore airgun just became the most versatile hunting airgun I now have in my collection! With up to 200 FPE slinging .35 cal slugs, this platform can be tuned and proper ammo paired for small game hunting all the way up to a small Deer. In this video I also showcase the new HYPR 7 prismatic optic from Element Optics and this thing is the perfect optic for all hunting implements I run during the hunting season. From crossbows to airguns to centerfire, this optic can handle it all paired with the Element Optics App you can load up to 4 profiles of different ammo and even different guns.

I love the 35 caliber in the airgun world. Great all around caliber from turkeys to coyotes with my setup. I have not tried it on deer as my state doesn't allow it. Some manufacturers are darn close to low end 9mm and mid range 380 pb energy levels too.
where would the umarex gauntlet 30 caliber fit in? I have been told by others that it's similar to a 22 rimfire power.. would it be capable of coyote?
thank you
Mark

if your pushing over 200 fpe its a deer gun... now u still have to keep a few things in mind

1. shot placement
2. penetration
3. get the deer in close
4. are you comfortable enough to take the shot

with lower fpe guns there is less room for error so your risk of a bad shot goes up..
you might not get a blood trail or u might hit bone and that deer is gone ...

Just curious, what are you trying to shoot at 200 FPE , unless it is a state requirement? Depending on the animal, a larger slug even at a slower speed delivers the forces needed to make a humane kill. The VP delivers in its stock form 198 FPE with a 125 gr slug at 845 (from the FX website). A 90 grain slug will probably achieve 950-980 FPS with a stock VP maxed out. Expansion on impact is also another consideration, again dependent on what animal is being hunted.

My first PCP was a Recluse .35, as I figured if I was only to have one PCP it should be a versatile hunter,. Buy experimenting with different powers and slug weights one can achieve many uses. Wow I was wrong about having one thought LOL

I would not deer hunt with a 100 ft pound .30 cal.

Yes it Could take one out at close range with a proper head shot but there is so much room for error.
Then there is the legal factor.
Louisiana allows .30 cal with 150 grain minimum for airguns. Check your states airgun laws.

Still I know plenty of people who put meat on the table with the old 22lr.

Just because it can be done doesn't make it right or sensible.
