Snowpeak Shroud leak air between barrel when shooting

Hello everyone. I'm a new airgun enthusiast. I've been using gunpowder guns my whole life, so I'm quite familiar with guns.

I fell in love with my friend's PCP gun a while ago and got myself a Snowpeak P35 .22 gun. I got it couble of weeks a go. I have an adapter for a suppressor and a suppressor for it from my .22LR.

When I added a suppressor, I noticed that air comes out of the small holes in the shroud when shooting. I tried to tape the holes shut to silence the gun. But there is no seal between the shroud and the barrel, so air leaks into your face when shooting. Has anyone come across a similar feature? Can the gap between the shroud and the barrel be sealed somehow?

The gun is really nice to shoot. I haven't adjusted it other than the suppressor, except by putting a 2cm extension piece at the back and lightening the trigger spring.
Airguns have come long way from my childhood and are absolute great for shooting and shooting practice.

Welcome, glad to have you here. Shroud technology is sound suppressing by directing some air back into the void between barrel and shroud. Holes in shroud are part of the process. I'd encourage a suppressor specifically designed for airgun use. BuckRail makes affordable ones, try .25 caliber suppressor, can help prevent clipping. If curious, Hajimoto made a YouTube video about adding shroud holes, with Magic Eraser buffer, to early Umarex Gauntlet. WM

ya I was kinda wondering why he is using a powder burner silencer on an airgun and how he got it to thread onto a 1/2x20?

These don’t have holes lol. Much like the Marauders. Look closer. And they became available today for the Scout. Ranger coming soon.

@WorriedMan , thank you. I think that at some point in time I will get a silencer specifically intended for air guns.

As I wrote in the beginning, I have an adapter for the sound absorber. So the adabter of course has a thread for the silencer of the .22 rifle. Reason to use one from powder guns is that I had that one all ready in hand.

I think @Gerry52 is right, that the silencer of the gunpowder gun has something to do with it. Would the silencer baffle sizing of the gunpowder gun be so tight that it causes back pressure.

The sound is also silenced with it, but I thought that if I could get all the back leakage under control, the gun could be even quieter.
I'll have to look into it, I also thought I'd try a hair roller for modification damping when I have time.
