I use exterrior masking tape. It's yellow and has been through 90°+ days and cold wet ones withouth fail. It stayed put, didn't shrink and hold marker very well.

Don’t pull tapes taught - lay them down
After marking run a clear tape over it to seal

Various colors and widths.

The above recommendation of clear tape over the top is a good one.

You could use labels from World or Avery. There are many different sizes.

Or make your owm. Similar to instructions here…
