Sidewinder vs Ghost

...after my recent experience with the Huben GK1 I found myself packing up all .30 cal. Ghost parts I just bought and getting ready to send them back for credit towards a .30 cal. Sidewinder...

...but when I was talking to Chris @ AoA I asked him why he bought a Ghost instead of a Sidewinder and he told me it was because he is a competition shooter...

...I am not a competition shooter but now I am not sure I want to go through with this...does anyone have both platforms...???...

If it’s just parts you’re sending back and not the Ghost. You can always replace said parts if you change your mind… 🙏 That said, I am loving my Ghost Carbine… Go with your instincts… Good luck!

Just curious, what aspects of the GK1 are you looking for in the Sidewinder? IMO, the SW is a gun that you’re either going to love or hate, depending on your expectations. I have one in .25, and it’s only the second PCP I’ve owned so I don’t have a lot to compare it to… but I can see why a competition shooter wouldn’t like it. The noise and action is a bit harsh, the trigger is weird, and semi-auto is never going to be as precisely accurate as single-shot. I let another member try mine a while back and the only thing he liked about it was the weight, if that tells you anything 😅

But for me, I love it. I can’t really explain why… I know the shortcomings, but it’s the only gun I’m interested in right now. It’s powerful, well built, plenty accurate enough for pesting/hunting, and the removable shoot-thru magazine is the ultimate “safety”. Not to mention, semi-auto is just plain fun! The first time I successfully sent a “double tap” into the same hole from 40yds was worth the price of admission. In fact, I’m hoping to pick up a .30 Mini version this summer, if I can ever catch one in stock.

But if I was looking for a quiet, smooth gun for precise target shooting… honestly the Sidewinder wouldn’t be it.

...well...fuk...

...thanks for that objective report...you may have saved me some trouble...

...hopefully the hammerless guns will become as refined as the hammer guns have become recently....

...what was twigging me aboot the Sidewinder is that the compact version was as powerful as the Ghost HP...

...I am liking the efficiency and power of the hammerless design...the semi / auto function is not lost on me but is not the main attraction...
