Tuning Sig Sauer p226 x5 C02 valve mod

Ok, for the hammer you will need to modify. If you pull it apart you will see the hammer slides on a rail. Where the hammer spring hooks to the hammer is where you will do the work. I got a 9/16 nut and the same size thread set screw. Then you will notice on the hammer that it has a piece that comes out for the spring to ride on. Using jb weld or super glue around the treads of the set screw then run the new set screw in to the 9/16 nut about half way. Let it dry completely.

I'll pay you $20 if you're willing to post images of the MCX/MPX hammer work (and any mods in general) as well as answer a handful of naive questions along the way.

OK I got some time now. So I don't have pics but I did do the hammer mod to my mcx and my wife's mpx. The both are on hpa and run at a regulated 1800psi. This puts out around 30 ft lbs. 10grain @ just under 1200fps. I have put 1000 or so rounds thrpugh with no issues at all. It's really not that hard. I am happy to answer any questions you might have along the way. I can take pics of my guns so you can see them if that's helpful. I also have done some valve work and I connected 2 clips together with bolts and slides which now work as a 60 round clip. Well 2 quick change 30 rounders. Let me know how I can help.

One last thing. I am not trying to solicit at all. But I do this kind of work on the side for fun mostly for friends and what have you. I will do the mod for you for $50 and you pay shipping both ways. I know it sounds schetchy to send a stranger your gun and I understand so I will help for free but I thought I should put that out there. I'm in Colorado FYI if you happen to be in that area. Anyhow let me know how I can help.

Good stuff Joey:

I'm new to the air pistol world. I just purchased a new regular Sig P226 and am disappointed with the accuracy and power after firing 3 complete 16rd clips. The barrel is loose causing part of the accuracy problem and have been researching what the remedies are. The CO2 modification you've done on the X-5 sounds like it would be the answer for me along with a few other issues like leaking CO2. I'm ready to address all this issues at once during disassembly. Any and all modification step-bystep procedures that you that you can give me would be useful as well.

Thanks

Hey Steve,

Welcome to the air world. Yes the Sig's are known for the exact problems you are having. But they can be fixed. I do not have any step by step procedures off the top of my head. But I am happy to answer any questions while you are doing the work. Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, the work is not really to bad. Just go slow and make sure everything is right right be fore you put it back together. It's no fun to have to tear it back apart. :) Anyhow hope for the best on your air pistol fun!
