SIGHTING IN HELP

SHOOTING THIS MORNING GROUPS OK FOR ME GETTING USED TO THE NEW GUN, AT 15YDS. AND 30YDS. WENT OUT THIS AFTERNOON AND THEY ARE HITTING LOW. IT WAS IN THE 70'S THIS MORNING 103 NOW. AT 30YDS THERE IS A 6IN DROP. i RE-TIGHTENED THE SCREWS AND RAN SOME SWABS THREW THE BARREL. STILL HITTING LOW. WILL THE TEMPERATURE MAKE THAT KIND OF DIFFERENCE? SHOOTING A DIANA STEALTH.

You have asked the question that every spring/piston shooter has pondered. The simple answer is yes, that much of a temperature difference will make a difference. Seasoned shooters, have spent countless hours trying to determine to what extent the shifts in impact are, depending upon the temperature. Some have spent the better part of a decade trying to make a temperature book/sheet in order to hit their mark. At Field Target matches, it is very common to see rigs with thermometers on them, and shooters keeping their guns in their cases in order to keep them as cool as they can, in order to eliminate large temperature differences, such as you have. Spend time in hot weather, cold , and in between, and you'll learn the quirks and habits of your gun.
