Theoben Sirocco Testing: Day 2

After spending yesterday morning culling pellets for the Theoben, I settled on the Exact 8.44gr at ~13fpe. The FTTs in 4.51 are also very good (and possibly a bit better!) but I have more JSBs on hand so I stuck with them for today.

I shot 6x 5 shot groups total at 30yds and zeroed the scope after group #1. Two notable bad shots in groups 1 & 3 drastically increased the overall average but thats showbiz, baby.

EDIT: Found some free time in between chores and finished off the last 4 boxes in the rows. I think I found a better hold but the wind had picked up some too so it's a wash in the accuracy department.

Overall she shoots great and I have a hunch once I put in some effort learning her likes and dislikes she will start breaking MOA at this range fairly often. I'll sort some pellets for her later as well to see if things can tighten up a bit. Groups 5 and 6 also saw a significant reduction in trigger pull after a slight adjustment to the rear screw. The first 20 shots were with a trigger breaking at just over 2lbs. The next 10 were with a trigger breaking at under a pound and a half. Huuuuuge difference.

Thank you. Its kind of a bitter sweet thing though. After I get her sorted she'll be put into a good case and only broken out for some special occasion plinking.
Bro, you gotta put a little blood on that rifle. You gotta represent that screen name!
A leisurely stroll for rabbits on Thanksgiving morning, or a brief visit to the squirrel patch would count.

NICE rifle though, I get why you wouldn't want to drag it across fences and such. That right there is a pass it down kind of rifle.

You know what? You are 1000% correct. This gun is not going away until it gets it's first squirrel. She deserves it and I don't want to put her away.

Imo anything under 2 MOA past 25 yards is very respectable for a piston rifle.
Yeah I agree completely. My goal is typically 1.5 or so and its there but oh boy does it feel like she's just getting warmed up. I can't tell you how many groups looked like one single pellet hole up until the 4th shot haha
