Skout Skout Epoch Barrel Length

I’m interested in adding a Skout Epoch in .30 caliber to the collection. I haven’t seen a lot of discussion on the topic but is there a preferred barrel length for shooting the zan br100’s out of this rifle? It appears the 35” barrel is sold out everywhere which leads me to believe that is the preferred length. Primary use will be 100 yd BR and 50yd. Thank you

Having BOTH lengths ... yes the 35" will make greater power at any given pressure and will be quieter ..... There is some trade offs in play :cautious:

Recoil launching heavy .30's is not going away no matter length of barrel, So .... a shorter barrel ( The OEM 25" ) has IMO the edge on accuracy or lets say easier to shoot accurately. As the resulting muzzle flip will have the projectile clear muzzle sooner in a shorter barrel as muzzle moves upward over the longer barrel.

Harmonics might be another with the longer barrel an additional 10" further out from the front holder/collar it may effect it somewhat ?

Now said ... BOTH barrel lengths shot fantastic and was using the 35" near exclusively because it was a lot quieter and more air efficient.
I've gone over to .22 cal in my personal EPOCH at for now a 25" length in OEM shroud. If & when SKOUT releases a .22 cal "LONG" 35" SLUG liner the long set up with likely go back on.

I have shot both the 25” and 35” in .30 cal.
From my experience the 35” in .30 is a tamer gun.
It uses less air than a 25” barrel for any given speed.
It has less recoil and is much quieter.
I found the 35” in .30 cal to be more enjoyable to shoot than the 25”.
I agree, the gun is much calmer with the long barrel.

Good evening, give us a call and we can get you sorted out on Tuesday! I would recommend the 35” barrel length. Have a merry Christmas!

I have both in .22 shooting pellets. The shorter requires 100-125 more psi HP for the same FPS. I’m the kind of person that is always wondering what would be best……. My twisted mind tells me a 30” would be ideal.
