after getting off of work at 11 pm I let the dog out to pee. He went into the corner of my yard where my flood light couldn't penetrate the darkness. He was acting funny as soon as I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye. Well he squared off with a skunk and I immediately called him in. Luckily he didn't spray. I ran to the room and grabbed my wifes hatsan at4410 in .25 and went back outside. Couldn't believe the skunk was exactly where I left him. Quick headshot in the dark and no more pepe le pew hanging around my place. Lets just hope he is the last one for awhile.

lol no we got lucky and it didn't spray! Most of them I've shot have though. 

Mike, I was worried the dog wouldn't listen as he's a 9 month old pit puppy who is curious about anything and everything. Maybe he knew nothing good would come from trying to chase that cat lol

I think it was the gun with the leshy channel on youtube but somebody I watched said to shoot them in the body to reduce the chance of spraying. I have no personal experience either way Congrats on a nice kill.

Yes the body shot tru the lungs is the best place if you don,t want to smell it . head shot they will spray most of the time . Body shot is not 100 percent that they will not spray, but 8 out of 10 will not, and 8 out 10 head shot will.

The stink tank on a skunk is good for only a spray or two at a time. They quickly exhaust their stores of the foul ejecta. That is the prime reason they take the time to give warning postures. They won't spray unless they are out of other options (or you pop em in the head....)

Well done on the skunk. I have had two dogs sprayed by skunks, one out hunting and one being his own “Mr. Social.”

After the dogs were sprayed I always had a gallon or two of tomato juice and vinegar on stock in case of a spray.

Well I thought this skunk would be the end of it but the last 3 nights we've smelled one around and while I was at work last night (graveyard) the wife said there was another just on the other side of my fence under my rv when she let the boy out to pee. Looks like we're about to go round 2.

Caught him on cam last night tearing up the lawn.

Can't believe how much damage he did in only one night. Like a 30 x 20 foot area!

I guess they dig for grubs or worms????

 i had and issue with skunks a couple of years ago, got under the barn and had babies. They liked to feed under the bird feeders at night, I made several head shoots and they never sprayed. Great shooting keep using the head shot.
