sling mount on top rail of an M3?

Is it ok to mount a single point sling to the top (scope) rail on an M3? I was wondering if the top rail would be strong enough?

I have a 22 compact m3 and i put a zip tie through top hole in the butt plate to connect my single point. works good for me.

I use this Magpul sling anchor on my Wildcat and Impact.
