Slow motion hunting pigeons by eaglevisioncam

@mohd_wafik I saw a few good shots in this reel. I like the head/neck shot around 1:17 mark. Several shots appeared to have been poorly placed and a several birds could've used a follow-up shot. Were you shooting pellets or slugs? Which brand and grain weight? The video quality of the footage using a Continental looks great. At which distances were you shooting from? What sort of shooting rest did you use and from which shooting position(s)?

To me lung shots are the easiest to hit and are higher up than in most mammals. From the front a lower neck through the lungs DRT even with a low power <12 FPE .177 to a bird as large as crows. From the sides for a lung shot you may need more power for larger birds to get through the wings. A good DRT shot the birds just goes limp, drops and doesn't flap its wings.

Bird lungs are strange to me. I don't quite understand them. IMO the heart is the best shot on an avian body (I've never hunted large birds). I think a good takeaway from the dialog in this thread is that there is a great benefit in learning the anatomy of your quarry. If you know it and still take those types of shots on animals not posing an immediate threat to life or property, I suggest getting back on paper before shooting live animals again.
