Today I tested jsb knockouts outs (.2165 25.39 gr) 50 yards



My settings on the alpha wolf were as follows



DWELL : 2730 MICROSECONDS

VOLTAGE : 87

REG PRESSURE : 165



It slung these down range at 1002 fps 



I had previously tested 35 gr nielsen and the shots were 6 inches apart no matter what. 



I kno I've got practicing to do but I also know I've got more tuning to do. I am not displeaed with this only having been shooting it two days now. I am wondering if the jsb knock outs in .217 same weight would tighten these groups up?. Maybe I should try a zan projectile soon

This was also my first day tuning in advance mode starting from scratch, sad to say it did take about 150 rounds to get this tune down

First group 8 shots I had left in a mag after adjusting the tune , second is a full mag

Wouldn't hurt to try the larger size Knockouts. As far as the 35gr not working no surprise there. You need a pretty fast twist rate for something that heavy to work. I'm not sure what twist is on the DW barrels but I'm sure there not fast enough. My guess would be 20-25gr weight range is what you'd be looking for.

I agree with the statement on the 35gr not working, Daystate is so secretive with their twist rates. I just order some 20.5 - 27.5 gr neilsen sample packs from .2165 to .2175 to test, barrel is choked so I do not think the rifle would benefit with from anything very close to .22 

With that said, this isn't terrible for my first day shooting slugs with the rifle and first day advance tuning the rifle. Its a good tune to use as a base tune for the slugs, I am going to try and slow it down when my JSB knockout in .217 come in and see how it does around 965ish fps which I could do by lowering the reg pressure a bit I think.

CT,,, Hey I am curious I do own the delta wolf. I noticed your voltage is way up. I think max voltage is 88V right ? I also heard a rumor not sure from Arizona Bob that the gun should not be shot at that high of voltage for a long time ?? Did you hear any rumors ? Seems a bit weird but though somebody indicated you could possible do damage ?

I been trying to get into contact with somebody over at AOA on this gun and settings ...... Yea it is kind of a chore....

Shoot me a message man, would not like to go public with certain things , not looking to stir trouble, just my experiences, Id be glad to chat with you.

However, no I have not heard that. I am still learning, max voltage is 88 yes , however to shoot slugs you want a higher voltage (hammer) and less dwell time, for pellets its quite the opposite.

Probably shooting too fast. Shoot the KOs between 950 and 980 FPS from the Red Wolf (1:17.7) but I'm not sure the DW/AW is the same twist rate barrel. I have one of the .22 Slow Twist (1:29?) barrels for my DW and it shoots lights out with RDMs, but slugs not so much. But then, its a Pellet barrel, not a Slug barrel. I'm not sure of the twist rates for .22 in the new DW/AW versions. If it is the slow twist pellet barrel, shoot pellets, and slugs MIGHT work OK if you're lucky. My .25 DW shoots slugs VERY good, its 1:17.7 twist and shoots NSA 29 or 34.9, and ZAN 37 as well as pellets.

@Centercut Damn, if my .22 is the slow twist rate then I may need to do a barrel/caliber change. I did buy the rifle specifically for slugs. My Taipan Vet Long shoots .25 33.95 MOA at 115 yards so I have no need for another pellet shooter.

I do plan to bring the speed down , likely via the reg when the rest of my Knockouts in .217 show up later this week. Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, you should be able to tell if you remove the barrel... I'd bring down the voltage and up the dwell. You can go to 88vdc, but probably better for long term if you keep it under 85vdc. As far as dwell, just bump that up to 2950 or so, and leave reg around 160 bar. I'm not sure who told you high vdc and low dwell for slugs, and then the opposite for pellets but in my experience, a good tune is a good tune, and neither Voltage or Dwell are specific to the type of projectile...

@centercut I will try that! I am not biased toward anyone with this because I am NEW NEW to this rifle, I have a bunch of sample packs from .2165 to .2175 from 20 to 27 gr from nielsen coming and the same from Zan, I will leave the reg around 160 bar like suggest and change the dwell and voltage and see how it rocks and rolls.
