I got lucky twice. I bought a .22 Crown Continuum in a blue laminate stock last fall. Shot a few mags of 18.13 JSB's through it, seemed accurate, then put it away. A couple weeks ago, I listed it for sale, but got no offers. That was the first time I got lucky. I read a post by a member of how he loved his new Crown Continuum with the 380mm barrel, so I thought maybe I should shoot it a little more. I took down my listing, and shot some more 18.13's. It was accurate at 25 yards in spite of the high winds we've been having. The Mesa County (CO) airport had the highest one month wind readings in 37 years. I'm talking 35mph to 75mph almost every day.
Today, the winds let up a little. They were only 20-25mph. I figured what the heck, I'll give the 20.2 gr NSA slugs a try. I was shooting the 18.13 pellets at 907-915 fps, so I thought maybe I could get 980 fps or so from the slugs, without changing the tune. My transfer port was already on high and my power wheel was already on Max so I had no room to go higher, but I thought I'd give it a try. I could not get more than 860 fps average, but it shot four 5 shot groups like this:
Since most my shots are 25-40 yards, with a few 50-75 yards, I'm happy to have lucked into a dual tune (pellets and slugs), that fits my needs. Just luck.
