i purchased an unmashined .177 1:16 no choke LW barrel and decided to pass a few slugs and pellets through it. when i passed through the stamped side the slugs jammed around 1 inch before the muzzle and damaged the slugs. BUT when i passed them muzzle first the slug came out perfect . and worth mentioning that there is no resistance at all they just come out like they slide on butter the head of the pellet didnt touch the riffling at all

That sounds like there is a directional burr at one end of the bore. In one direction the burr grabs the projectile. In the other direction, the burr just squashes the lead.

You really should de-burr the barrel before slugging it. That means creating at least a small burr-less chamfer. Else you are measuring the effect of the burrs in constricting the bore, rather than the actual barrel.

Sounds like a CHOKE is present !!

YES a slug will hang up @ 1" from muzzle due to said choke if present.
Put slug threw choke first, indeed the slug will pass down barrel w/o touching rifling and appear smooth
** One needs to prep barrel as in a LEADE and a proper Crown before determining condition of bore end to end. (y)

Usually when buying raw barrel blanks 1 inch should be cut off both ends...when you pull a button.rifeling through more stress at.both ends...normal barrels.not.choke.airgun. stuff..
