Small caliber for feral hog ethical quick kills

Curious to hear from different folks on their opinions. Head shots? 30 caliber slugs? Heavy or lightweight lead? Where is your optimal shot in head for a quick drop, can you organ shoot 30 caliber ethically? How about distance?? Under 50 yards 50-75 yards or 75,100 or more ? And hog size ???? Smaller good eating size?or big boar or sow 200lbs +?? Would like to hear about it 30 caliber

Iirc the rough guide is 10 ft lbs per lb. That said I'm going to give it a go with a 45 ft lb 25 and a 75 ft lb 22 and they're feral problems so my ethics are questionable here. Headshots only very carefully placed or I'm bringing a bow. 50 yards and in. They're such a problem I'm likely to snare them too.

my Uragan-1 in .30 with >100fpe puts them down on the spot with a between the ear & eye shot.
i will skip my .25 and go straight to my Huben K1 .22 producing 71fpe...again, ear & eye.
both guns shooting slugs and are very accurate.
i have shot them out past 50yrds with good results, but mostly around 30-35yrds
i try and take the small ones between 50-90lbs, in my opinion thats the best size for eating.
if i do take a large one, i call my friend and he will take them all any size !! 🇺🇸

I’ll tell you like this, I’ve shot hogs aiming for the lungs with a couple of different .357 airguns (within 30-55 yards) and never recovered one. These are an estimated 90 - 150 lb animals. Didn’t see blood trails either. So take it for what it’s worth. Brain shots (through the earhole) are the most ideal headshots to take in my opinion. I’d consider trying to keep shots within 50 yards.
