The X Barrel and Liners A & B I recently got rid of as a failed experiment on my Streamline were extremely dirty barrels. For example, I would clean the B Liner and start shooting groups and the first couple groups would be good, but after that the groups would start to go bad... dropping shots an inch or more low. So I would run a patch through the barrel and it would come out very black and dirty. After thoroughly cleaning the barrel again it would shoot ok but then after a couple mags it would shoot badly again.
In contrast, my Streamline's factory SmoothTwist barrel almost never needs cleaning. Once in a blue moon I will run a dry patch through and it barely shows any color on the patch. I used the same pellets for the X Barrel liners as I always do. I suspect that either the increased amount of rifling in the bore or the small bore size, or both, causes a lot of lead to rub off the pellets as they pass through, thereby causing the liners to get so dirty so fast. Also, when I pushed a pellet through the Liner with a cleaning rod the skirt of the pellet did not have rifling marks on it... the skirt was smeared out longer and shiny, as if the skirt was dragging itself through the rifling.
All I can say is that I didn't like the X Barrel and it's Liners enough to keep it... I gave it away to someone just for the shipping costs. I feel like I threw away $370.00 + shipping on something that will never be comparable to the accuracy of my original SmoothTwist Barrel.
Best regards, Chuck
