Smooth Twist X barrel kit on a Crown MK2

Almost correct, Liner, barrel, shroud.

Each liner gets a jam nut at the crown end.

Each liner gets a thimble assembly with the thimble and liner nut at the breech end.

The liner slides into the barrel, is held under compression by the nuts and the barrel.

The shroud makes it look pretty.

.22 liners and a .25 liner with end nuts and thimbles installed.

No jam nut on the lightweight kit. Just spacers on liner to "stiffen" it in the shroud.
There was 3x liner spacers in my Crown 600mm. Liner is tightened at transfer port. Complete lightweight system (shroud, barrel, transfer port) is only tightened by 2 small screws and 1 bigger at the breach. Spacers do move because of air pressure in shroud when shooting. They also move when taking off/putting on the shroud. The whole lightweight setup is a joke from FX that havent been seen again. They moved back to the liner housing tube with the jam nut which is much better.
Some ppl have modified the lightweight setup with a carbon sleeve and 3d printed shroud spacers to fit over the sleeve and a barrel/bottle tensioner - that should be better.
The lightweight system is a laugh. FX marketing is making ppl by it. Don't buy it!

Tape is to hold spacers at their place

In the second picture on the left end of the liner there is a brass jam nut that has 5-6 O-Rings within....to me that is a JAM NUT. Maybe it's not to some?
You would need to remove that brass jam nut and O-Rings to install a different caliber liner. I assume that the jam nut and O-Rings would need to be the correct size for the different size caliber, but perhaps the outside diameters are the same, except for .30 caliber (?).

Maybe they are called the same? Due to FX parts list the jam nut is the nut to tighten barrel in the other end of the liner tube. That jam nut is not a part in the lightweight system since there is no liner tube.

The system with a liner tube around the liner and a jam nut to tighten the liner is much more reliable. Only problem that system has is if the jam nut isnt tightened enough - then the liner will rotate during shooting whick will give poi. Its a easy fix - jam nut must be tightened. If tightened too much - liner will bend though. FX states finger tighten and then 1/4 turn - then you are good.

The superlight system is crap. The spacers that holds the liner do move and in time gives poi. Many threads about it.
Bull poop I love my Superlight - Have both systems and have absolutely no problems with the Superlight.

But be aware the Smooth Twist X liner is not so happy with slugs as the newer liners.

Thats good to hear. I wished everyone had same experience.
There are so many threads with FX superlight and POI - many different DIY solutions also. It should work directly from FX so ppl didnt have poi and shouldnt do DIY. Not everyone are into DIY and when buiyng an expensive rifle is shouldnt be a problem.

For me FX is all DIY. All my FX had problems - Panthera, Crown2 and DRS. My latest DRS made 3 inch groups om 20meter, blew an oring within the first 20 shots. Jam nut was loose - rifle was brand new.
Panthera dropped quich adjust system - screws were loose
Crown had poi out of the box, spacers were all over the place.

I have 3 superlite barrels. 177in380mm,22in500mm,and 25in 500mm. All are super accurate. None are crap. Who ever said that probably got out shot by one. There's people who have only negative stuff to say about fx guns and parts. Most of those people are not smart enough to use the barrels for shooting, instead taking them apart, and not putting them back correctly. Superlite barrels work just fine. The 380mm 177 barrel is even a hole cutter at 75 yards with 13.4 redesigned. The stx barrel system is good also, but past 600mm you'll need a tensioning system to get the most accuracy.

You need to make DIY solution to keep the shroud spacers at their place to make the superlight work. Take of the shroud once and spacers have moved. Spacers are moving when putting on the shroud as well. Spacers are moving when shooting because of air pressure inside the shroud. If spacers moves - precision is gone. Its well documented in several threads.
