So I have a issue with the new Saber Tactical TRS rail.

Partially because of the video MOistine
Showed and looking at the dynamics of of how the rail works I put trying out the barrel holder lower on the list of things to do and ran out of time to actually try it out.
Overall I do like the TRS rail and the UTG bipod. It's lighter than my Accu-Tac and easier to remove. The issues I do have with the bipod is the inability to lock the cant, the legs, don't extend long enough, and the legs don't fold or tilt backwards.

This flimsy barrel issue has been with us for awhile. All these things we do to correct or improve the situation are all Band-Aids, they are not fixes. It does not matter whether it is the TRS system, tensioned barrels or barrel bands, they all help with POI shift. The problem is a flimsy barrel and a less than adequate barrel to receiver attachment. Add to this problem barrel harmonics and all the Band-Aids being used to help that issue like CF tubes over the thin wall barrels, harmonic tuning and whatever. All of these issues including barrel droop caused by mounting a moderator can only be remedied by the manufacturer and it isn't just FX. All air gun manufacturers that use thin wall tubes for barrels have this issue.

We should be having a discussion on the best methods to resolve this issue as suggestions to the manufacturers. Including the advantages and disadvantages of a thin wall barrel as opposed to a conventional bull barrel. Now I know that not all of the forum readers can participate because they are not engineers, but many folks that play here are pretty smart and very well experienced. I suggest that this subject should be addressed on its own thread and not hijack this one.

We can call them band aids, but the positive thing is there are these aftermarket products available to help remedy, fix, make better, these flawed areas. I’m glad for that. It’s better than being stuck with something that one can’t do anything about.

Being an owner of an LCS- SK17(30 cal, 2021 model), one of the problems I read about that’s complained about the most is the trigger being what it is for a SA/FA action and not being adjustable. I personally am not a trigger snob so I was able to get used to it immediately. But my point is, there’s a “problem” that can’t be addressed. You’re stuck with it and you’ll either get used to it like I did, or bash it by comparing it to the Huben and sell it.

The marauder- tried and true. Biggest complaint is it’s too long and front heavy. No aftermarket parts for that(the weight part, after JSAR stopped production of the lightweight air tubes), but instead folks have had to custom hack the marauder to make it suit them by trimming the stock and converting them to bottle guns. The good thing the marauder has going for it is it’s simplicity and a great parts replacement support from Crosman, and aftermarket power parts from Tim Hill and a few others.

I’ll end this with saying all pcp’s have their issues, and over the years folks have had to modify. I mean, look at what 3D printing has evolved to in this hobby, because nothing else was available. Look at all the home DIY machinists that have cropped up showcasing their skill sets in making parts better that no one else can get. I’m glad FX, along with its vendor followers have chosen to come up with fixes or parts to make certain parts of the gun better. Not wanting to come off as a fan boy, but what other pcp type out there has that support? There are a few high dollar, top tier guns out there that I often wonder why a parts diagram isn’t even available for them, or even an o ring kit!

The only way a perfect gun for someone will ever be built is if that someone builds it themselves, a true custom that probably 20% of the people in our sport/hobby can afford. Threaded on barrels, two stage fully adjustable triggers, light weight, fully adjustable length of pull and cheek weld, power tuning made easy, etc, etc, etc.

And even then, another person will find a flaw and wish there was a fix for it.

I predict before long a manufacturer will come out with Bull barrels for their guns. With all the talk of barrel harmonics and weight needed to help address the harmonics and droop, it won’t be long before a barrel for say a 177 has the outside diameter of an FX shroud, without a shroud. More than likely be threaded on. I don’t own a lot of PCP’s, but the one I own with the beefiest of barrels that is threaded on and cinched down tight, is the LCS- SK17(30 cal, 17 shots). Now that barrel is far from being called a flimsy straw.

Now how much do you think that platform will cost? If the gun still has the feature of caliber changes, what do you think a barrel kit for that would cost?
Pretty soon shortly after, I can see all the threads topics of “why do these pcp guns cost so much?” become the majority of topic titles.

Obviously, cost will be a consideration as well as weight. There are values in light tubular barrels just as there is with bull barrels. Many of the issues I identified we can live with or make better ourselves, but the elephant in the room is the attachment of receiver and barrel. That can only be changed by the manufacturer. I suggest the end solution will be somewhere in between the two, but we cannot live with continuous POI changes. A shooter must have enough confidence in his firearm to know his miss is due to him not his weapon. A grub screw or two just doesn't cut it.

i think the pellet shop is making a 920 barrel for impact like a 22lr barrel

The impact was designed to do certain things well and it does that. All these "add ons" make it do better in other areas. I like my impact and what it does. Yes the impact is constantly evolving. Do I want it to do other things better? Yes but I have to know what the limits are and what might be achieved by these "add ons" and whether they do anything at all to my impact to improve things in other areas I want it to accel in.

Because of a self levelling the bubble. You can cant the gun manually to the bubble but never will be so perfect as the gravity style.
Maybe, but I don't think it was that as I tend to use a monopod and it is mounted to the right of the buttstock making the impact tilt to the left. If it is possible to mount the monopod to the center of the buttstock or if I used a bag it probably would center more. If I remember to take a picture of the setup all mount and ready to go it I will later, as it is easier to see that way.

Some samples how I managed my convenience with a rear support. A lot of trial and errors and I feel like never ending.

After messing with the Overbore setup, I gave up. At least until I can figure how to either lock the bipod better or make a centered rear monopod. The offset saber and other offset monopod setups cause the gun to cant constantly. I do find the airgun jumps a lot more with the regulator bipod. I may try to use just a rear bag with the Overbore setup in the future though.
