This is the test target I received with my Prod from Pyramydair. Says 5 shot group at 10 yards. First of all the holes are the size of a BB or smaller and looks like 2 shots instead of 5. Check out the back
So who believes this crap?

At first glance it does indeed look like it's only 2 shots. Have you shot the gun to verify the accuracy?

Really though, it’s like Calbarry says. You’ll know soon enough.
I mean, it’s only 10 yards but if it’s grouping any pellet that well, I expect you will know shortly if it’s a good barrel.

I think ALL my guns could produce a group like that at only 10 yards. Testing should be done at a minimum 25 yards.

I've since done some altering to the internals, but a good barrel should be a good barrel.

That looks like it comes right from Crosman. Here is the one for my 1701P that I ordered direct from them.
I can confirm my gun is this accurate irregardless if it was 5 shots or 2 shots.

I never paid attention to those targets that they shot when I bought a new gun. I have gotten some that were lousy groups at 10 yards and thought to myself this is the best this gun can do? And I would take it outside and get better groups at 25 yards then they showed at 10 yards. It’s kind of crazy. But the more I thought about it, I figured it was probably because they shot through a dirty barrel and maybe I used a pellet that the gun liked better.

I thought that they shot them to check to see if there were any air leaks and to make sure it chambers right all that. Not really for the shot grouping. I'm just learning so take that in consideration on me.

So they all shoot 13/4" low! Kidding of course, I'm a Crosman/Benjamin fan (except for cheap poppets in..... you know the ones)

This is the test target on my just received 1701p. Mounted a red dot sight and she can shoot, waiting for the stock she is destined to be a mini carbine. On the target it’s says that the gun is secured in a “fixture”.

I tried a PRod once and it might shoot a tight group at 10 yards but at 20 it sucked! My 1720 and 1701 both print 1/4 inch groups at 20 yards all day. My daily practice/fun target shooting is looking for 177 pellet holes to shoot with these little crosman "pistols" with LW barrels. once my challengers get here I might venture into free hand shooting, I really suck at it.

I got the same kind of target with my new (as of tuesday) 1701P.
I'm guessing they use CP 7.9gr pellets, which just plain DO NOT punch clean holes, but are better than any wadcutter they make...
And, again, they state they are machine rested.

You have to shoot it.
My BSA R10 TH and Taipan Vet came with a short shot string (who cares) and targets shot. I beat those targets immediately.
