It’s been a while since last time I went hunting/pesting. I got this new pup a few months ago, now he is almost four months old and ready for training, specially for waterfowl hunting.
I took him out to see how he does with squirrels and he didn’t disappoint.
This is the best time of the year to go out pesting, beautiful weather, the flowers are blooming everywhere, just gorgeous!
He spotted a couple young ones playing but I let them passed, too small.
I spotted a medium size squirrel about 86yards according to my range finder.
It was a solid shot on the chest area. This 29.5gr NSA slugs hit with authority!
The Veteran was dead on!
Here showing him the game, he was very interested and was all over the squirrel, a good sign!!!
We got another one, I chose this one a little closer 55 yards, so he could see it. As soon as he heard the Thwaakk! He went straight at him. I felt so proud seeing him going for it and retrieving it!
After sometime of been hiking, we took a little break under a tree just to relax and absorb all the beauty of nature.
Dad the squirrels can’t see me here.
He was very interested on the birds too, cant wait for waterfowl and upland season!
The squirrels were very skidish but we managed to get at least 12. All of them within 50-100 yards.
After a few hours of hiking we decided to come back to camp for a good lunch and target shooting.
Just chillaxing!
I brought my old trusty 30cal Edgun, I was surprised that it was shooting great and holding air since last time I filled it up, which was almost two years ago.
The Veteran is one of my favorites, sooo reliable!
After shooting some targets we decided to pack up and go to a different spot to spend the night.
Very cool day in the outdoors with great company!!!
