Sold an FX gun-Is the buyer being petty?

You should have not only NOT offered $25 reparations he doesn't deserve, but put him in his place. Apparently his mommy never did.😭

I not only don't hesitate to give those deserving of it a reality check😲, but also teach valuable lessons to those that don't understand personal responsibility and accountability.🤤

If we don't help them help themselves, who will?

What the OP is dealing with is the art of the “niggle“. Least that is what I have heard it called. Get the gun then start whining and see how much free crap you can get.
Shut him down immediately. As another poster advised offer a full refund upon return of the gun in the same condition it was shipped in and he pays the freight. If they won’t do that tell them you are done doing anything for them. Then don’t send the money until the gun arrives and passes inspection.
I once sold a very clean S&W vintage revolver to a guy who claimed I never disclosed a flaw in the grips even though I pointed it out in the pics I sent. Wanted to know how much I was going to knock off the price of the gun.
When I refused to play his game he got indignant about the situation so I reviewed my ad and the pic and the defect was noted. So I just told him to send the gun back on his dime and I would refund the purchase price once I verified the gun had suffered no damage while he had it or in transit. Of course being a cheat, he assumed I was going to cheat him and not send the money and kept it. Sometime you have to use their mentality against them.

Yes, he is a member here, the deal was through this site, and he is in the United States. I have not posted his name because we had a great conversation, he seemed very knowledgeable about airguns, and he paid me quickly. Everything went well until he asked about the owners manual (after the gun shipped), and about some clear name tag covers and a second thread protector after receipt of the gun.

I mainly started this thread just to see if my feelings were correct, or if I needed to change MY ways. I realize I am only human and can get a bit snarky at times. I appreciate all the candid replies and advice I received. If this guy was a total jerk or a scammer, I would be the first to out him. I feel I owe that to protect others here, who have protected me in the past.

I do believe I will add a notation whenever I sell any airgun, that because of the "rolling upgrade" policy used by many manufacturers, the case, internals, barrel, magazine and magazine capacity, and included items can vary, so please ask ALL questions before committing to buy.

I wasn't expecting you to out the individual. Though if it were me depending on how the conversations went I would make him known. But that is on you and you alone, don't let others try to make you post who it is.

I would say let him know exactly what Chukar60 has said. The deal is done and the buyer needs to understand that. If he isn't happy then that is on him and he needs to deal with it.

My maverick came from FX in a short case, almost too short for the 600 mm config, once i went to 700 mm it was too short for damn sure.
As a bonus my Vulcan 3 fit the maverick case just fine, CUZ i do not like the soft bag the Vulcan came with.

The new 1200 mm wide case i got, it is for the maverick,,,, if i ever get it back from the dealer.

This dilemma are one of the major reasons why i do not sell anything, i give stuff away or play hoarder for a few years and then throw things out, even if they still have some value.

I am extremely big on my integrity, so even if it is challenged for no reason i will sadly feel bad, and there are and always have been plenty of things in my life that make me feel bad, so i do not go there if i can help it.

DO NOT offer a full refund upon return of the gun in the same condition it was shipped in and he pays the freight!

He'll package the gun inadequately to avoid damage in shipping, you'll get a damaged or destroyed gun back, it will fall on HIM to make a claim, and he won't follow through. In going way beyond any reasonable bounds to coddle a loser you'll lose, and he won't care.
