Hi socaloldman,

I read this before, so I contacted SWFA, & this is the pertinent portion of their reply:

”All of the fixed power riflescopes technically speaking are second focal plane. 
However on the same token, all of the fixed power reticles are specifically etched for the magnification utilized, which is what FFP is.”

So, apparently (according to SWFA) your fixed power 12x scope is a second focal plane fixed power scope with a reticle that is correctly scaled for whatever magnification the scope is set at (12x).

FFP keeps the reticle correctly scaled for whatever magnification a variable power scope is set at...but yours is not a variable power scope, or an FFP scope.

Hope this clears up any questions.
