Picking this off a separate thread. It's about the Vulcan and the Mk1 heavies 33.9 grains with the longer skirts. Liisting down the issues I have faced.
1. Day 1 with the Vulcan - I’ve had a strange experience with the Vulcan mag. At first the mag would cycle but not index properly i.e. the bolt would get stuck. This was using the heavies MK1. On investigating I found that the mag was not cycling completely. The bolt was hitting the plastic in the mag. I have a pal who unscrewed the screw on the mag and tightened the spring and it cycled the MK1 fine. Shot 9 shots through it and it cycled fine.
2. Day 2 with the Vulcan- The next day the mag stopped cycling completely. This time the bolt wasn’t hitting the plastic, the mag just didn’t cycle at all after every shot. I was shooting blanks. I had to push the mag out and then back in again after every shot for it to cycle properly. I think In an attempt to solve the problem we may have tightened the spring a bit too much. It did work on the initial 10 shots on day one but refused to cycle on day 2.
On day 2, even the 25 grains JSB did not cycle. Using either pellet, I now have to push the mag slightly out after every shot and then back in again for it to cycle. Once it cycles, it works fine. Accuracy wise the MK1 heavies with longer skirts are a bit more accurate than the 25 grains. I have a whole load of these MK1 pellets so am hoping there is a solution to this. The Mk2 aren't available where I stay.
I bounced this off KYAairgunner. Here is the link to his response. http://airgunnation.dev/topic/pellet-s-that-fit-in-vulcan/
He faced a similar problem. Wanted to check if any of the Vulcan owners on this forum have been successful in using the MK1 heavies with the longer skirts. I really like these pellets because they shoot nicely. But I have to fiddle with the mag after every shot to get the mag to cycle.
I guess loosening the spring just a bit may be the solution because it did work initially on day 1. Any inputs from you guys will be really helpful.
Thanks in advance.
SOLUTION: So finally got a resolution to the mag problem in the Vulcan. I researched online and couldn't find a solution. Very few people seem to have had this problem with the MK1 pellets with the Vulcan combo. Reached out to www.pcptunes.com for a solution. The guy there took one look at the mag and figured out where the problem was. Now the mag is cycling beautifully with the MK1 heavies with the longer skirts and the 25 grain standard JSB's. The problem was in the rotary pellet seater inside the mag. It was rubbing inside the walls of the mag cover causing friction and therefore not cycling. The guy at pcptunes.com took the rotary piece out and very carefully filed the rotary pellet seater and reduced its height by 1mm I think. . This allowed the mag to cycle freely without any problems. It was a precision job cause it almost took him a good 45 mins to do it for both my mags. All is well now in Vulcan land.
. Check out their website when you can. They have a lot of stuff on there.
