Some Common Questions...

. I have more money than I know what to do with and now have a new hobby. I can buy the best gun, scope and all available accessories and Ill be able to brag to my buddies at the country club. I don't really care what 'you all think', I just want to show everyone that I'm buying the best of the best right out the gate. When I tire of looking at it, it will sit for a few years with all the rest of the toys that caught my eye at one point or another.
For sure there people like this, but many of us have transit by different stages along life. There are times on which you need all available money to cover first necessities, and sometimes you have money to spend on a hobbie (call it travels, cars, boats, hunts, golf, air rifles, whatever ...).

For very few fortunate (or not) there is always enough money for whatever they want. Normally these "fortunate" people have problematic sons that never understood that in life you have to work to put bread on the table. There drug problems are more frequent .....

How about questions like these:

"Who else likes to hunt with their airguns?"

"Where are all of the benchrest shooters?"

My first thoughts are, "Sooooo you joined Airgun Nation to ask these questions as if there aren't dedicated forums, seen on the home page, with pages upon pages of threads on these topics?"

I can't help but to think that, "maybe this is the best that some guy came up with for his version of a quality post to gain access to PMs to buy something off of the Classifies forum." Then to add insult to injury, some of these fine chaps abandon their threads after suckering members into trying to engage them with responses.

Fun to see my silly post here is still getting some chuckles out of folks.

A lot of it is subjective. Some of it is folks hoping to justify a purchase. Still some is just hoping to show off a purchase. I've been guilty of both. @Ezana4CE, I've noticed that you have become the 'search wizard' here and I think it's helpful when folks ask questions. I can reasonably navigate search, but often find it more fun to engage...just depends on where my 'social meter' sits that day!

The 'quality' post rule is interesting. I know if I were going into a new hobby, it would be difficult to know what is 'quality'. I see and understand the point of it. I dont think there is a fool proof method for staying safe on the classifieds. I've sent out stuff at no charge to folks and have had kindness repaid back to me. I've also gotten burned by some, one very prolific with a ton of positive feedback. One never knows these days.

@Rob_in_NC The joys of an open forum.
For sure. Still, these type questions are mildly entertaining... but some have worn out their welcome over time. I cant tell you how many times I've heard folks argue about SHTF scenarios or TX200 vs HW97. Whatever floats folks boats, I reckon.

Well sir,i would suggest the air gun for spiders would be a co/2 ,Then when ya run out of pellets you could shoot the co/2 and the spider will spat to pice,s.Then ifya want to you could move up to flys?you could get a gilley suite then ya could really get up close and people would really think your some kind of a killer""O" another thing sir' don't use the lead kinda pellets "it causes cancer "you could loose your nuts, stay with the alloy their faster and more accurate. I guess thats all the help i can give now" Willy

Everyone knows a ghillie suit increases your lethality by a factor of 20. Especially in airsoft... :ROFLMAO:

pretty funny...

but I'll add a question as a noob.

Seems like bench shooting with bags or rifle rests is pretty much standard.

And I guess if I want to begin to get to know my tool something along the lines of at least a bipod shooting from a bench would be in order.

Freehand shooting isn't done anymore? It's the image of shooting a rifle thats been in my head since the 70's when I was a kid.

When hunting using a rest or bipod is now more common than not?

Bench shooting with bags, rests or a bipod is what you want to do to sight in or tune your rifle. You're trying to introduce as little human error as possible. Much of the shooting you'll see online are gun reviews and for those you want to know how accurate the rifle is, not how accurate the guy holding it is.

Offhand, sitting or other field shooting positions are actually what you'll be using 90% of the time when hunting.

Exactly the sort of info I was seeking. THANK YOU!

"I'm a believer in the buy-once, cry-once philosophy, I've owned all of the top shelf guns, several of the most exclusive ones in fact. No matter that you live on a fixed income or are just starting a family with limited funds, you NEED to drop $4000.00 on the FRX-1000 in the obsolete .20 caliber so that you can enjoy bullseye shooting at 1000 yards right out of the box."

"That right! Send that lead downrange. The formula for the newborn can wait until next payday." says the homeless new father addicted to air gunning.

So true! That answer is almost as annoying and pointless as the 'SHTF' questions. You get someone who just wants to plink cans or such at 20 yards and dip their toes in the water and folks recommend a ultra high $$ gun and scoff at the idea that a less expensive model may suit them just fine; especially given their budget.
There are different 'stages' I guess to this hobby. Some love the tinkering and taking an inexpensive gun and turning it into something special. I used to.. these days I prefer not to tinker as much.

@all Glad to see this thread is still mildly entertaining to yall!
