Benjamin Some Prod (and 1701P) ❤️❤️❤️

Brilliant build, I’m thinking of regging my prod soon, do you think increasing the fill pressure to 220bar is completely safe? I know it’s rated for 207 as standard, but I always like to 100% safe on these things 👍
Hi AJ,

I would advise you to do your own research and decide what you’re comfortable with. I suspect that when I get my 10 shot magazines from Maple, I’ll establish a regime that requires 2 magazines (20 shots) and will be comfortably achieved from 3000psi. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any help with setup on the reg.

Nice shooting and looking PROD.
It looks like a work of love :)

I appreciated the tips about the 3D printed jigs.
For polising the crown it seems that you need:
-3D printed cylinder which is a tight fit to the barrel
-3D printed cone to which you glued sandpaper?
That’s right, the cone piece snugly fits into the cylinder over the barrel but has enough play to rotate it and polish the crown. Note that I’ve only done it twice, so I’m not going to say that it’s a “well proven” method, but the results in both cases are good. And yes, a circle of paper was cut and trimmed to glue on the cone. I used the 3M paper (shown above) rather than sand/emery cloth, because it is soft and pliable.

Here’s some pics of the poppet making for the 1701P, which is the same as the Prod. The OD is reduced by 0.3mm from stock and the poppet is shorter to reduce valve spring tension.

1. The stem pressed into a piece of PEEK after drilling using the jig.
2. Shaping on the cheap micro lathe.
3. Ready for stem trimming and polishing
4. Polishing on the jig
5. The final product following 2000 grit polishing and reduction of stem OD at poppet face.

Here’s a little preview of what the 1701P is doing with its new PEEK poppet, 120bar reg, light hammer with PEEK striker and 0.42 spring.

177 redesigns, 10.34 grain, putting out 11.75fpe, so let’s call it a UK tune!

18 shots from 2950psi before it drops off. Barely registering on a dB meter 6ft to the side. Too windy for any accuracy testing right now..

Here it is in testing guise before it gets a nice shroud and wooden stock!
