Unless I missed something in the story, all he ended up doing was putting a hole in a window. While the ability to do significant damage was there, at the end of the day a Red Ryder would have put a hole in the window as well.

This guy is part of what I call my 10% rule. That is, 1 out of every 10 ppl you meet will be an asshole. Think about your own circles, the math is pretty solid.

Unfortunately there is little that can be done with our 10 percenters except endure & prosecute when possible.

All he ended doing? Hole in window? The ****** was shooting at humans in the trees… thank God he was a bad shot… He should be charged with attempted murder…

"Ruin someone's day" is an understatement. My .30 is LETHAL as I'm sure the Vulcan is too.
Ain’t no way I would ever shoot anyone with my Paradigm .30. That’s just nuts.
Many years ago I was tuck pointing my dad’s chimney on a story and a half house. My brother shot me in my bum with a foresters paintball. Hurt like hell but certainly didn’t break the skin like a .30 pellet would.

That's attempted homicide however you explain or excuse it. Fortunately the media has not yet demonized airguns much, so it sounds like something less than being shot at with a .22 (LR) rifle. It wasn't. The perp should be treated no differently than someone with a .30-06 taking pot shots at the guy in the tree.
