Something to arouse the classic springer guys and gals; late model HW55

Here's a little something to arouse classic spring gun lovers; a late model HW55 (non-Beeman). Someone opined that this stock was never distributed in the U.S. Adjustable aftermarket butt pad, cheek rest and more rounded fore end than an M/MM and w/o accessory rail makes it shoulder a lot like a Tyrolean.

Here's mine-Born in 1983-bought by me from Beeman's used gun list in 1985

Just got it back from Motorhead a few months ago after he rebuilt it. It's wearing a scope now-I use it to relax plinking at the end of my work day.

That's a lovely rifle! I have never seen one of that variant in the flesh.

I'm believe I'm correct in saying that version was released in the 1990's - after the HW 55's traditional walnut stocks had been discontinued. It's impressive that HW gave the wood such a thoughtful re-design at that late point in the model's production life. It nicely combines features of previous stocks - the "S" (nicely rounded fore end with finger grooves) and "M" (traditional "stretched hexagon" Bayern cheekpiece).

I really like that stock. The utilitarian charm of the old finger groove forearm and a nice smoothly shaped cheekpiece. Really nice looking stock and clean gun!

Not a problem, not going to be bidder, it’s nice but the stock is not my style and I am very happy with my HW55 MM. Here’s to hoping it finds a great new home.

Request for guidance and advice please, probably @DualMagMike I have just fitted a lightweight barrel sleeve (the original that came with the rifle) to my 1974 HW 55 Tyrolean. I find the grub screw that secures the sleeve to the barrel will only line up with its corresponding hole in the barrel that seats it if the sleeve extends about 2mm longer than the barrel, leaving a similar gap at the rear. This doesn't ring true with HW's precision. Would they originally have had a 14mm rubber washer at the rear? Should the sleeve be flush with the end of the barrel?

Mine are held in position by the front sight I believe. I doubt an O ring was ever used but if that's what makes for a good fix...
