Sons first hunt

Today was the fist time he was able to carry a rifle. As we entered the woods we heard a deer snorting and a squirrel barking. I’m pretty sure how it at each other by how it was playing out. We watched her prance off thinking she gone. Since several squirrel were barking all around us we found a fallen log to settle behind. About 15-20 mins later normal woods activity resumed. While chilling the doe came back about 60 yd out then sorta waltzed out of view again. Just to return about 20yds to our left proceeded to forage for what seemed like for ever. As she was walking away about 30 yds she stopped and stared right into our souls. Only to stomp her foot for about 2 mins. She then walked out way all paranoid paused and waltzed over the hill.
We saw 3 squirrels 60ish yards a way so we relocated near them. As we got to our next spot I could hear one cutting some nut open. Spotted the porker looking at us eating a nut. Waited for my son to see him. Gave him the go and his first squirrel. As we were gathering him up we spot in a tree two young raccoons sleeping. One looked down at us like keep it down and went back to sleep. We ended up getting 3 total. I one and him 2.
If you like playing find the sniper there is a doe in several of the pictures.

How my morning went as well. Had 3 does snort at me for 10 mins. They just would not leave me be. Managed to get 4 squirrels before the wind picked up. Congrats on your son's first squirrel hunt and on seeing all the wild life. Helps to keep the excitement of going to the woods alive.
It was pretty fun. He was trying so hard to suppress his leg from jiggling when the doe got so close and I was stuck in the most uncomfy position. Now he wants to try deer hunting.

Wow! What a day for father and son… Definitely warms this old man’s heart, very inspiring to know the values and traditions of hunting “are” being passed down to the next generation. Simply a wonderful post…🙏
My oldest son likes hunting and fishing, My daughter loves fishing and my youngest son won’t fish or hunt, but he will bring a book and tag along. He enjoys seeing the creatures but has zero interest in touching them😃

It's nice to see young people getting into hunting.
