Sorry ZAN, but I'm not feeling it

Every 45 slugs? I havent cleaned my liner and shot over 1000 slugs with it, accuracy is still there.

If I would have to clean my barrel afther 45 shots with slugs, I spend more time cleaning the barrel then actually shooting.

Back to the thread, I have good succes with the Zan 23 grain slugs once my wildcat was tuned properly. The only slug that outperforms any slugbrand I have tested for accuracy(Zan,H&N, Javelin, JSB Knockout,FX Hybrid, NSA) is H&N but the expansion is lower.
I dunno, but I'd clean the barrel on big-bores at least every 300 rounds, because the lead foulling in the barrel could cause additional pressure that will take a toll on the seals around the breech, or on the probe/bolt. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but just to be safe, I'd do it.

23 grain. A bit lightweight but enough for my needs
Thanks, I'm probably going to buy some 15gr lead-free Zans next month, and now that you've pointed out that 23gr won't shoot well past 930-950, I'm most likely going to get me some of these 23gr, because they're probably going to shoot just fine at 650 fps out of my Hatsan 125.

Slugs are kinda ‘weird’ sometimes. Other people can shoot different brands at a certain fps with great succes and when others try to tune for the same exact fps the grouping is like a shotgun. Its probably because no barrel is 100% the same. Pellets are just tuning for a fps that is known to be accurate and its ready

Exactly my thought, for instance, some break barrels can shoot slugs well, while others can't hit the broad side of a barn... Even two springers of the exact same model/brand can shoot slugs differently, i.e. Hatsan springers ;)

Yup. Once you got it the tune right and shoot them accurate is fun. Took me some time aswell :)

Javelins were great aswell but double the cost of H&N, okay expansion was better but we cannot hunt here legally in Belgium with an air rifle so it doesnt really matter for me.

Last summer I ordered some Zan 10gr .177 slugs for my daystate regulated huntsman revere. That first batch was splendid, 14 boxes all shot quite nice. Last month I ordered another 10 boxes, and this batch is quite frankly not at all the same quality.

With the first batch, I was able to consistently hit a dime out at about 50 yards, now, with this new batch my group size almost quadrupled. Now my group size is friggin two inches!! I switch back to the last batch and the group size is back to about dime/nickle. It's clearly this batch of pellets that are not the same quality as the last batch.
Now I have ~10 boxes of junk.. I am aggrivated to say the least.
Any suggestions on another pellet (slug) that has reliability batch to batch?

Thanks.

NSA is simply phenomenal! They are so clean and consistent I only shoot them straight from the box. Tried everything else and nothing compares except for Altaros which is more than 2x the price.
Thanks, I have some NSA .178's, and they do shoot good. I wish they had a 10gr option as the 12.5gr's are a touch heavy for 18ftlbs at 100yd. Also, they fit abit tight in the daystate .177 and I blew the main breach seal after about 500 shots.. they are my current choice though as this batch of zans are simply horrid.

My Maverick .22 700mm loves the ZAN 28gr, shoots better than all other brands I have tried, which is PLENTY. Best and consistent groups ever.

However cannot get them to feed reliably in my magazines, every 2nd or 3rd shot I have to remove magazine, give it a tap then it advances, seems the slugs twist in magazine and jam magazine. This happens in both my magazines and a friends 3 magazines as well.

Two of us would exclusively shoot ZANS if the magazine issue went away.......

With the new ones that have label on the top of the tray, there should be no more issue.

Zan,
What about the .177, they don't come in a tray.
I've just purchased another 10 boxes of .177.
Definitely not as accurate as the first 5 boxes I tried.
Same rifle, exact same set up.

Regards, bamboozled from Bulgaria.

You most likely have to clean your barrel. 177 slugs lead up the barrels pretty bad. I ran a patch after my 600mm impact barrel was nowhere near as accurate. And the patch looked like it went through tar.

I, you would get either Orion mags or Hunter tactical mags. Both are amazing mags for slugs and pellets.
