Sow meets Texan LSS .457

Still have a couple of good boars coming in to the feeder so I figured I try and get them Friday night. Well everything was screwed up and running late trying to get to the blind. I was about 30 mins out when my buddy sends me a pic of the good boars at the feeder already. Well that figures in on how everything else was going for the day. I finally made it out to the blind and decided to go ahead and sit because they have been in twice in one night, plus there is two different groups. Sat all night and only seen a few deer come in. About daylight I see some movement just inside the trees. It’s the group of eater pigs coming in. ( all are 100#’s or less ). Get the gun up on the tripod and get the scope turned on Sightmark Wraith. I scan thru the pigs and I pick which two I want. Just about the time I go to pull the trigger, the scope turns off. Batteries went dead!!! Pigs are 40yds from me when I have to reach into my backpack and find my spare batteries by feel. I locate them and the size I need. I easy up and remove the battery compartment too and pull old batteries out and replace with new ones. I put in dead batteries that I had dropped in the backpack instead of lthrowing on the ground. I go back into the backpack for more batteries. I had to do this twice before I found batteries that would work long enough for a shot. Well the pigs figured something was up and started leaving. This sow was the last to leave and made a very fatal mistake of stopping and having one last look at the corn. 45yd shot and she was DRT with the eye bulge. Meat was donated to some locals that needed it. I will remember from now on to throw the dang old batteries away when removing them!!!

Dang 265grain in an lss must be cruising a pretty flat trajectory! I have been watching vids of bullits over 350 still moving really fast. Good shot man! Well played with donating the meat brother that's how we win hearts and minds in the hunting circle. Also just the right thing to do when there's a need.

Had a large supply of these leftover from setting my other Texan up for a hunt. Decided sisnce I limit my shots at night they would work. So far so good. Hopefully I will get a chance to run them thru a chrony before long. We kill 2-4 pigs a weekend. I donate most of them unless something doesn’t look right.
