Spector II aka Ranger XR in 22 arrived…Iguana edition

Well, when I got home there was a large box waiting in the building office, my new Ranger XR Iguana edition in 22 cal. The iguana edition has a different top picatinny rail and comes the ultra heavy duty iguana silhouette target.

The gun is identical to the 177 I purchased from @Ghostranger169. I went with 22 for the hunting squirrels and other small game, NH requirement.

AOA provided a target and Chrony numbers, then I did my own numbers, but just into a homemade target trap using JSB hades. I did a full magazine and the regulator pressure dropped 75 bar, hopefully over time it gets better over time. This Saturday I will go out to the farm and do a proper evaluation with different pellets and hopefully get pigeon / sparrows / starling time. Also, I will explore the property a bit more.

As with the 177 version the gun is solid, again Identical to the 177, but seems a bit louder. FPE with the hades from low to high setting is 12.6 FPE to 15.8 FPE, yes I will probably bugger with the hammer spring, I want 17 to 18 FPE. For 20 yards, the target provide by AOA is “ok”, my Uragan in 177 was doing that at 50. Again, I hope all settles in, but full report coming Saturday after I get to the farm. My FPS wasn’t as consistent as AOA.

I finally ordered a proper bipod, Atlas something, it arrives Thursday, same as knockoff who’s lack of quality drives me nuts.

Okay well I’m showing this first apparently AOA didn’t set up the trigger right it is now flopping around the grub screw fell out I’ll have them send me some 2 day air. I need it Friday. Seriously $1600 gun. Simple simple they should have check all fittings before it left. I mean like the gun gun seriously. Something so simple they didn’t check and where am I getting a grub screw that small.

Maybe it’ll help your fps spread now. Trigger will cause inconsistencies. I’m eager to hear your long term experience. I was looking at one of these myself. Currently using a dreamline tac compact in .22 for similar duties shooting hades at 700fps. With the 300cc bottle I’m getting a ton of shots (over 100), but after watching Dana’s vid, I like that the atomic and ranger are more rugged than the dreamline for carrying around.

Thank you sir, I am sure Spector II will meet my needs, plus I have a this for a hunting backpack. The floppy trigger after 1 hour of looking is a a disappointment.
The Mystery Ranch 2 day Assault backpack exceeded expections, OMG the thing is solid. Damn expensive but should way out last the gun.

So the grub screw that secures the trigger shoe to the post fell out? If so, that’s unfortunate, hope you get one before the weekend. Either way congratulations on your sweet Ranger XR. Was the chrony string from AOA for the Jumbos?

@L.Leon that is what the Target says, JSB Jumbos. I have HN 18s, Polymags, Crossmans, and JSB 18 and Hades.. Honestly, the I want the gun to like Hades, they do a lot of damage, so they are a favorite of mine. I figure between these 5 pellets it will let something.

Tomorrow at opening AOA will be hearing from me, one to confirm the reimbursement on my trade in and two the GRUB screw.

WHY IS MY TRIGGER DIFFERENT FROM STOCK? Nothing in the ad said different trigger. It is a hunting gun, I don’t need an adjustable trigger that can fall off the post.

I am sure Spector II will be accurate, but confused with the trigger and honestly, that is worries me in the design for a rough and tumble gun I wanted being bounced around in a backpack. Item three to ask AOA, “what’s the deal?!”

Don’t overblow it, yes it sucks that your grub screw fell out. I have the old style trigger on two guns and the one you’re complaining about on the Atomic XR. I prefer the newer style trigger, I like the way it feels on my finger and at the break. Haven’t had a single issue with mine. Thousands of pellets down range not one hiccup. You can retrofit the older trigger blade if you truly are unhappy with the present one. Also what is Spector II? The gun came with a name the Ranger XR… The whole Spector II aka Ranger XR is ponderous. Those wanting to know more about the Rangers? Will not be searching for Spector II. I personally call my Atomic XR, ”lil’ wicked”, but not when posting about it.

@L.Leon two phone calls, two call backs, finally convinced AOA to send me a grub screw, which is great, but it did take two phone calls from me speaking with 3 ppl I knew what i was talking about.

Regulator is crap. Spring piston adjustments do little to nothing on velocity. Boxing the rifle up and wanting a complete placement. Do it right the first time
