Spent My Pending Stimulus Payment on a Morini 162MI PCP - 1st Impressions

I'd like to start by thanking every US taxpayer and those idiots in Congress who wildly keep tossing $$$ at the public while gearing up our deficit to new records. That said, I decided to go the PCP route as air pistol is the only shooting sport I am currently actively doing. Normally I shoot trap, Cowboy Action Shooting, Wild Bunch, ASI, and IDPA. It's currently too snowy/icy for trap here, and the Kung Flu has basically shut down the other disciplines around me as of last March. The Rockville, MD IWLA started Internet air pistol matches last summer and are holding these all winter. I seriously competed in air pistol from the mid 80's until moving from MD to WV in 2005. Sold my Walther CP-3 CO2 pistol, but kept a Daisy 717. After I started back shooting air again (have a 10 meter range in basement) got a Daisy 777, it's just too heavy, then recently a FWB 65, which is tiring for me to cock, but very easy to shoot.

Decided to go upscale to a top-tier PCP pistol and settled on a Morini 162 MI, mainly because it came with two cylinders, and had a mechanical trigger. It was somewhat difficult to find as most dealers had them backordered. Finally found one at Pyramyd Air with a medium grip. Would have preferred a large grip, but they are apparently made out of unobanium as no one had these in stock. It cost $1,800 +6% sales tax. I've been downsizing my gun collection and have built up some excess cash if the Stimulus check bounces.

My impressions: It is very well made with excellent balance and is lighter than I'm used to, though I got familiar with its mass very quickly. Will not add any weights. Opening the grip to its max is a perfect fit for my hand. The front sight is 5mm and I prefer a 4mm like the one on the FWB 65. Searched for a 4mm OEM replacement sight and the only one I could find in stock was $57 + $18 shipping. Located a vendor in Canada who will order me one for US $44 + $9 shipping. Guess that parts are pricy and somewhat hard to find. Shooting it is a pleasure and my scores are averaging a bit above those by the FWB. I'm using a high-end pump to fill cylinders, but will probably get a Scuba tank as cannot pump it up to 200 Bar.(2900 PSI). Just don't weigh enough to pump past 150 Bar. Am shooting 30 shots daily as my wife accuses me of being a Troglodyte if I spend too much time in the basement. Bottom line is it's money well spent to keep my sanity in these troubling times.

I’m sure there was quite a few people that spent some or all of their stimulus on airgun stuff .I’m not afraid to admit that I spent probably half of my first stimulus check on the same thing. And not afraid to admit that I’ve thought about the pending stimulus also. After thinking it over I figured I better wait until I see it first. Although there is More important things that most of that money will go to.
