Here is that sound sample repeated three times.
The microphone is about ten feet further from the bullet trap than it is from the rifle muzzle. The sound of the pellet striking the trap is much louder than the rifle.
Analysis in "Audacity" shows that the net reduction is 11 decibels. That is a net reduction in detectable range of about 350%.
