Spring(ers) have Sprung at Diablo's March 16th Field Target match today

NorCal shooters gathered today to prepare for next weeks BIG Sacramento Field Target Match- pistols, PCP's and Springers all participated. Weather started beautiful, but like Jim P's target placement, things got a little tricky as the day worn on.
NO worries, smiles were everywhere- our matches are open to everyone, 3rd Sunday of each month. 8:30 am setup, 9:00 am for practice and match!

Jim! What were you thinking......1/2" at 55 Yards? HA............gonna have to try that to see if it is even doable.
It is nice to see that 1/3 of the field was piston shooters....so near and dear to my own heart.

We need more springer shooters! Spread the word.
Don't miss the match reports from the north east. You'll see the majority of springer shooters here, in multiple classes. Even a few MD's run spring guns.

Oof I was messing around yesterday with 15mm at 48y and it was brutal.

12.7mm at 55y is wicked.

I do apologize to the six PCP shooters for setting that lane. Don't know why but some of them seem to complain a lot (more than me).
I selfishly set that lane to challenge my springer skill sets. (sorry)
In my over imaginative mind, I cleaned that lane.
Unfortunately, in the harsh realities of recorded videos it just ain't so. Back to the practice field to sharpen my skills.
Oh well there's always next month.

I might be wrong ...but I think the small one was a one inch or a 3/4" KZ. We did have some competitors knock those targets down during the match (even though they knocked them down ...some of 'em still bitch and moan).
I know still an illegal target. But it's all fun and games right.

If you look very closely at the video of that 55 yards target...I think I saw a splitter at 8:30 O'clock? (time stamp 1:44-1:45? maybe it was a fly or a video editing artifact?) Missed that observation completely when I was shooting. Could have helped me adjust my POA on my next shot. Sooooo close (yet soooo far).

The world champ told me he dropped the big one on the right twice. I'll let you guess if he complained about that lane or...not.

Just a class act. I wished I/we were all more like that.

Jim did rock that small target the one time- I tried to isolate the clip with a closeup, but the quality degraded, wasn't conclusive.
I saw the back plate vibrate when the pellet hit, and if he was pushing his pellets at 60 ft/lb's like the rest of us PCP users, he would have surely split it into the hole!!!
I'm picking up my springer for the summer, gonna be like Mark and Son ( and maybe like Jim too!)

I am glad to hear that springers are making a comeback. It is a fun and accurate powerplant if someone wants to take the time to learn the gun. I prefer to shoot piston over PCP.
