i have thought about this quite a bitCan you get away with just a red flashlight? It is what I use when night hunting pigs with a PB, because I couldn't justify the cost of night vision optics. I would rather risk a cheap flashlight than an expensive scope.
i mean 25-30 yards should be easily achievable shots, and the abillit to shoot rats in the dark.I do not like the idea. First, you need to get close enough to shoot and kill your game with a springer. What good would night vision really give you?
That'd be a good application of nv but I'd use a different style rifle. CO² or PCP.i mean 25-30 yards should be easily achievable shots, and the abillit to shoot rats in the dark.
so i live in a super rural area, a bunch of cattle feed yards and dairy farms around i allready shoot pigeon during the day but i have seen a bunch of rats around dusk, honestly i just want to hunt them. i have several pcp airguns but have gotten bored with them, hence the want to apply the nv to spring airguns.OK,I get it now,if and when you find a night vision scope, you should call the maker and make sure that it is springer-rated. Another far out idea, have some food out and put in on a trip-lights,so when the rats go to get the food, they trip the light and you can see them to shoot them....or do what I do: use glue boards,I do not see shooting rats as a sport, they cause much damage and I do not believe in poison.I tell you, I have had rats eat their out from the glue boards.
You know what,I am beginning to like your idea.![]()
I have seen some sub 12 shooters use the newer compact night vision on springers, IIR they were testing the ruggedness, not sure if they are finished testing ??? Maybe a recoil reduction mount ?so i live in a super rural area, a bunch of cattle feed yards and dairy farms around i allready shoot pigeon during the day but i have seen a bunch of rats around dusk, honestly i just want to hunt them. i have several pcp airguns but have gotten bored with them, hence the want to apply the nv to spring airguns.
i am actually looking at the diana bullseye mount and have found a couple nv units that would work with it, that being said the gun i plan to use is only a 13fpe gun.I have seen some sub 12 shooters use the newer compact night vision on springers, IIR they were testing the ruggedness, not sure if they are finished testing ??? ive never targeted rats at night, will the flashlight scare the rats off?The flashlight I use is good to 100 yards.
red filter is the key , look up red flashlight filter or theater lighting gell filter ,ive never targeted rats at night, will the flashlight scare the rats off?
Red light doesn't seem to bother anything.ive never targeted rats at night, will the flashlight scare the rats off?
