Tuning Springer Bore and strokes.

That’s the beauty of a properly set up spring piston airgun. Springs, pistons, levers, properly applied greases, and correctly fitting parts working in concert with each other to accurately launch a pellet towards it’s target. It’s a thing of beauty.

Sure you could just use a PCP and dispense with all of this. But what fun is that?
This is why i pay a tuner, to tune my choice of shooting cycles , Smoothest is first on my list . I really do not care about FPE or FPS .

Hey Silver,
Let me tell you 🙂 …. PCP’s have a whole different set of tuning variable making them equally, if not more challenging to tune.
Since we have complete control over adjusting the guns efficiency, power or regulating air flow etc…. when shooting pellets 🫣.

- Then if we move to shooting slugs, time to start over again 😵‍💫.

Yeah but they're stupid expensive and too easy to shoot 😅🤣

Just look in the classifieds at all the PCP's that aren't selling and send out low ball offers. Catch a fish. Certainly someone will want to give you a deal just to get rid of it. 😁
I wouldn't pay a dollar for any PCP. I can't be bothered with them. Too much expense and maintenance on the guns and support equipment. I can shoot a 223 off my front porch in any direction. If I want more power than a springer I'll just break out a PB.

Yeah, PCP’s are expensive, a whole different world for tuning - that was after all, my point.

Don’t want to get into a pissing contest on what guns are better or hold the value longer, but the challenge is consistent, precision accuracy at 50/75/100+ yards🎯.

I appreciate both worlds🙂.

There's no contest to piss. Its apples and orange's. All have different strengths and uses. For me personally and others with my property situation, PCPs offer nothing but needless great expense and perpetual maintenance. Couldn't give me one of those things.

Ron,
That’s a beautiful piece of property you have … a Dream View🎯.

Here you go, with a few extra details (TP volume and static compression ratio) so you can get an even better idea.

Note the HW80 and 35, it's often said the 35 is just a baby 80 but it's not just the swept volume that as reworked....

This may help.
Pellet Rifle Swept Volume formula:

Rifle bore radius squared x Pi (3.14159) x piston stroke = cubed mm. Convert to cubed centimeter by moving decimal point 3 positions left.

Example:

HW95L .22 caliber 26 mm Bore radius = 13 squared (1/2 diameter) = 169 mm x Pi (3.14159) = 530.929 x HW95L Stroke 85 = 45,128.9 mm cubed. Convert to CC (cubic centimeter) = 45.128 or 45.13 CC for Swept Volume.

I'm always curious about bore and strokes on my Weihrauchs. It gives me an idea of power and build potential. I recently measured a few. These statistics can be hard to find on the net, so I figured I'd post them here for orhers to reference. These are approximates. Probably within 1mm.

25mm bores
Beeman R7/Hw30 -60mm
Beeman R8 -65mm

26mm bores
Hw50/99 -70mm
Hw77/97 (IIRC) - 81mm
Hw95 85mm

30mm bore
Hw80/R1 -80mm

Feel free to correct me or add to the list. I feel this is important information and should be correct and complete.

Be well all
Ron
HW 50- R8 not the same?

My hobbies still live in the mental childhood zone where they started - 50 cents a week allowance, mowing yards for 2 bucks, etc. The elegance and economy of a self-contained powerplant - needing only the actual projectile added - still dominates my tiny brain... :p
