Springer off a bag

I do especially when first testing pellets, scopes, tunes, etc. After, if it's one of my FT rifles I go to shooting off sticks because that's how I will shoot in competition. There may well be a different impact point going from one type of rest to another but don't buy into you have to put your hand in between the bag and gun and other things. Here is a group from 51.5 yds (laser ranged) with my 97 directly on a front bag, I don't use one at the back. The squares are 1/4''

Not at all suggesting you HAVE to put your hand beneath it. I shoot a lot off hand and the shots that matter most are usually off hand so that’s what works for me when shooting rested. Kind of like you do with your FT rifles. I do occasionally shoot straight off the front rest when testing precision.

Not at all suggesting you did, I just had a feeling this technique would come up. In fact your comment was not even up and must have been while I was typing that your comment posted.

Didn't think you were, no harm no foul. Just wanted to make sure others didn’t think I was since our posts crossed in cyberspace. You know more about airguns than I’m ever likely to. AGN members, if DMM and I ever disagree on anything airgun related, you should probably go with his advice ha ha ha.

I always have my hand under it, even when shooting off a front bag. That way the gun reacts the same when I’m not shooting off a bag. I have several springers I tested with and POI changes if I shoot straight off the bag. Interesting stuff.
I'm wondering if we've noticed the same thing here. Bagged vs bagged with hand or from straight off hand I've found bagged to always move my POI a few MOA high

High and a little left is what I saw most. Still very consistent though, tight groups. Just POI shift. And I only did it with 4 (I think?) guns. Need to try it some day with the ones that are really hold sensitive. That would be interesting.

I have a buddy who shoots off of a breast implant. He claims it acts similar to a hand and he gets zero POI shift. His logic checks out in theory lol
