springer or gas piston ?

As I already stated above, there is nothing wrong with Gas Rams, the Theoben Fenman one of the nicest field pest rifles we ever used in England, but this at 11.4 ftlbs. The problem occurs when pushing this format on above 12ftlbs for export markets…..things then starting to go major south.
The point being lost here however, is the arrival of the new trend in the UK (because we were restricted to 12 ftlbs) of reduced diameter chambers. Running 25 or even 24mm dia pistons, resulting in virtually no recoil for around 10.8 ftlbs. Hitting a sweet spot for the springer design, of even the largest guns like the HW80, resulting in FT wins and exceedingly long range kills by way of perfect shot placement….
Following this route here, the Gas ram died out….virtually no sales here anymore.
This is not the same for you so much….less mild manner Springers versus Gam Rams..
