springer questions that keep me up at nights........

Happy holidays to all

What keeps me up at night is this:

There is a chance I may lose some powder burners and get more into airguns.
I always appreciate a fine gun and for now can see me with a hw97 and a tx200 111 soon.
I have 2 nephews who I want to take shooting.
But as what I researched and looked at both springers and they are high quality.
BUT, I feel it kind of goes against my grain to take 2 new pretty high quality guns and look to tune before they reach their first birthday.
IMHO I am of mind to run a lot of pellets thru them, enjoy great accuracy and break them in.
Does any one just shoot what came in the box?
Short of putting optics that is all I think I should do to it.
If ,God willing I put a lot of miles on the guns and they should be rebuilt then I would consider it for sure.
I think I should buy a chroney instead
Also, what would be your choice of a good scope
thank you folks

I think that these guns are built so well that you can do whatever you like. I got a brand new 97 and shot it for about half a tin then put a tbt kit in and relubed with moly and then just let it settle in. There's a definite benefit to the relube and smoothing of rough parts inside, but no disadvantage not to.
So just enjoy the guns and if you want to tune them do it.
If you're game, the triggers can improve with a polish of the sears to make them silky smooth, but once again they are good out of the box anyway.
Enjoy.

These are quality guns. There is no need to take them apart and mess with them. It's just that a lot of us can't resist screwing with a good thing. Do you really think an airgun manufacturer would produce a gun and sell it for over $600 knowing it was deficient in some way? I've been shooting my HW97K now for two years and don't intend to fiddle with the internals until necessary. It is amazingly accurate.

I know the TX models a bit. ( fired a couple of 97's also). One thing about the TX "I" like is .... it is THE easiest springer to work on! No spring compressor needed, simple user adjustments to the trigger ( and for people accustomed to BP rifles you would never think to further adjust the trigger ) make it so light and crisp you'll be ruined for life.
If a TX "I" would inspect it, clean barrel then shoot a good bit while checking stock screws. Then re-inspect including pulling it all the way down , clean with brake cleaner and look for every single wear mark on every part. Everything might be perfect, or maybe just a slight burr somewhere which you could smooth out. Then proper lube - still 100% factory parts unless your the tinker type), then reassemble and shoot 20,000 shots. Happy happy. And no special tools !
If needed/desired parts are very low cost, springs $20..00+ , seal less than that, want to short stroke it ( ya man lot's do it ALL ) buy a LV or LVR or heck I cant recall piston and have a short stroke "12fpe" rig smoother than a licked Frog - huh ? .
Or get an HK.

Closest match to you is ?
You've looked at the member map for other's near you that can let you shoot one/both right? If your in TN there are no shortage of both TX & HW shootes - though it is a wide State).
