On, Canada
I generally try to shoot in mornings to score more natural light. The daylight is shortened about 8 hours from the summer.
Totally hooked on plinking. Today I started with a HW97 .25. I did take another rifle out, a 90, with are a blast to shoot. I couldn’t put that 97 down, talk about selfish.

I know a lot of members don’t like the looping. I love it, easy to watch. I find it it’s consistency amazing.
I’m not the greatest shot. This is 25 shots at 30 yds.
IMG_7504.jpeg
The hole is 3/8 of an inch. 4 shots clean through, 6 caught edge of hole moved bell.
IMG_7503.jpeg
Still a round attached. I’ve do have paper targets and hope to get into them some day. I can’t stop pounding the spinners.
‘These bells my son got for me in a clearance (have a hundred coming) are turning into excellent targets.

_:Got it on a long chain. Lots of movemont, and timing is involved. Smack it and you ring the bell. Really cool.
This 97 is one of my favorite plinkers, the 77 .25 same deal.
What’s your favorite springer for Plinking? No PCP
A pic of favorite target or rifle would sweet.

Good thing you have a hundred bells coming. They will soon be recycling trash.
They take way more beating than a tin can, I’m putting a plate on the ones going behind a hole. These are experimental. Crow
Tomahawk .25
Shoots pretty flat out to 45y with H&N FTT @ 725 fps
For sure not a mamby pamby "sweet spot" 12 ft lb

Thanks. That’s a keeper. Before my time, but read nothing but good from these gems. Crow

My favorite plinker?
The HW35E.
I have an R1 and a TX200, but for shear enjoyment for this old codger (78), nothing beats a stroll in the woods (yes we still have SOME in Northern California) with my peep sighted HW35, a pocketful of 7.9CPH pellets, a canteen of water and a combination submarine sandwich.
Not really hunting just popping off a pellet now and again at inanimate objects.
The term was “roving” in my earlier archery (I still have a longbow) days.

I enjoy plinking with all my spring guns but I think the long and the short of it would be (pun intended) if I had my whole arsenal out in the woods at once I'd spend far more time shooting drink cans at 100+ yds. with a scoped HW97 and at 20 yds. with an open sighted R7 than I'd spend with all the rest of the springers combined so those must be my favorites.

Great question! I know which two to take next time we go camping!

How does the 25 cals compare to the 177 cal shot cycle? Is it harsher, more or less recoil?
Also what do you think a strong tune could get out of the 25 cal fps wise?

Probably the FWB Sport. I love the way it looks and I love the shot cycle to it. It shot so great using the factory irons that when a clean one popped up used on AoA I had to have it to put a scope on it so I could shoot both ways without swapping anything over.

What do these compare to power wise, R9/95?

@crowski , your HW97 is beautiful. Seen so many talk about them but never owned or shot one myself. Lots of other beautiful looking rifles in this thread as well. I like the lines of the Feinwerkbau Sport, too

I stopped buying springers after the TX 200. I gave my original HW50s, that I bought from Air Rifle Headquarters with lawn mowing money in the '70s, to my nephew to share with his boys sometime in the future. It was a super light cocking all day plinker. That was back in the days when Robert Law owned ARH, and advertised in outdoor magazines.

For plinking now, I enjoy my Feinwerkbau 124s in .177. I bought it from Beeman in the late '70s. It likes the H&N field target trophy pellets in 4.51 mm head size. I rebuilt it 10 or 11 years ago with Maccari parts from Air Rifle Headquarters, and it still shoots with zero vibration. What a timeless design with amazingly smooth and light cocking force. I had the good fortune of picking up a laminate stock for it from ARH when they were still available. This was the inspiration for my username. Now that I look at this photo, I suppose I could find a more discreet place to record its favorite pellet and trajectory table numbers. Notice my special 'accuracy button' on the wrist. A consistent place for your thumb to do the trigger pinch technique with minimal cheek weld and finger grip.

Pretty much exactly. I keep the irons only one at about 14.5ftlbs and the scoped one closer to 13ftlbs. I've heard of guys running them close to 17ftlbs but I've never tried
had the chance to pick up two FWB124's so i did . just plinking so far but ready to pit one against the other in a dual . report to follow in a week or so of testing/dualling.

Thanks r1lover. Do you take one on the boat? For when your docked. Crow
I’m a big proponent of the .25
Great. Sometimes when hitting targets small branches narrowly miss my shots. At times I try to disable these branches watching the looping. I really enjoy my 77, 90 and 97 in .25 all equally.
My 80 I put in a Vortek spring + in and no good, gulling. Tom was to send a replacement with my order, but didn’t pull through. I’ll address it again later. Crow

I don’t notice any difference. I think I‘be only did a spring in a .177 and .20. Next 97 for a spring is the .25. I have the spring now. 550 and change. I’ll have to check my book. The slowest of the 4 cal. but spins the spinners more than the other 3 cal. Destroys tree rats. Crow

I mostly plink with everything I own. I'm seldom serious unless working out a problem child. I enjoy plinking with my Hw30s the most. The scoped Laminate I'll take out to 100 yards and the plain jane peep sighted one out to 50 yards. The scoped one amazes me but I still probably use the peep sighted one more.

The laminate one is money.🔥

Took the HW97k .20 caliber out this weekend. Tuned to a smooth 14 fpe the rifle is a laser with the FTT's. I am always amazed how the .20 caliber is not affected by wind. I was hitting spinners with it while the .177 struggled to keep pace.
Thanks. The dream rifle. The flawless gun. Crow
