Squirrel hunting gun recommendations (sorry)

You may want to check out a Crosman 362. 110 bucks off Amazon. They have their good and bad points. If you don't like it send it back within 30 days. It's a .22 pumper single shot. Will be easier to shoot accurately than a springer. Mfg claims 875 fps. If it did shoot 13.4gn pellets at 850 that would be 21 lbft of energy, plenty for Squirrel and other critters.

Good luck and post here before you purchase. A lot of people here and a lot of guns owned.

Right now on DonnyFL.com all Niksan are under $400. Great rifles, very accurate and so far very reliable.

Then there is the current flavor of the month. Pintydevices.com and their 3 Snowpeak/AirForce knockoffs.
$279.00 with $40 coupon Black20 (I think)
Couple threads running currently with people testing them out (mostly under AirForce headings). Just search for Pinty.
Single Shot (Snowpeak M18/ AF Talon)
Bullpup (Snowpeak P15/P35, Stroeger Bullshark)
Long rifle (Snowpeak M16 tube)

I thought I knew what I wanted for the most part, but man was I wrong hahaha. I had never considered a bullpup, but those Niksan ELFs look great.

I'll have to read more up on those Pinty's. Sometimes kickoffs can be just as good as the originals, and there is no was I can afford an Airforce right now.

It’s honestly so weird how you constantly recommend this gun on every forum no matter what people say their budget is. He mentioned looking at multipumps and a Notos and you link the palm beach airguns advertisement picture for the wildcat? Genuinely curious why you constantly recommend your gun to everyone with this picture. Do you work at Palm Beach Airguns?
no, I just love this gun. Here it is with a red dot.

The only reason I was looking away from pumps and single shots was because I'm mainly going to use it for hunting, and I'd like the opportunity for quick follow up shots. I have my Dad's old Sheridan pump that I use for some plinking, just not hunting. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

funny I didn't notice a budget mentioned and even got a thumbs up from the original poster, and BTW did you have a bad experience with Palm Beach Air guns?

The original post mentioned the budget wasn’t huge and asked for multi pump and possibly Notos as far as a PCP goes.

I’m noting how weird it is that you post this picture constantly and a copy/paste style answer for so many posts that really don’t call for it, with the PBA sticker placed at the top. It’s like a weird out of place advertisement that nobody asked for.

Do you work at PBA?

Well sorry you dont like the sticker but thats where I bought it. I also dont take a new picture each time i respond to a post. Personally, I think it's a perfect squirrel gun/woods walker and thought someone besides you might be interested in it
I agree it’s an awesome gun, it just feels out of place. Like someone saying I’m trying to decide between a Civic and a Camry and then saying “yeah but have you looked into the Ferrari” with a sticker for a dealership in the picture. Just feels weird. I think he mentioned a few times he’s not looking into high end guns for his first one.

It’s a cool gun and all but it just feels like an out of place advertisement for what he asked for. You don’t have to agree. More just trying to look out for the people who can’t afford to spend $1,400 before scope/compressor on their first rifle and make suggestions that are more in the ballpark of what they are looking for. Attempting to be relatable.

Sorry, I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times. I tried searching the forums but could not find what I was looking for.

I had bought an Umarex Synergis Elite in 22 cal, but had horrible results with it. I ran a couple hundred pellets through it (crosman premier hollow points, some Benjamins, heavier H&Ns, etc), but could not get any accuracy with it. I'd group a few right where I wanted, then without any changes, the POI would change, and also random flyers as well.

I just returned it today, so I am weighing my options on what to get next.

I live in Illinois and primarily will use it for squirrels, rabbits, and some plinking. My budget isn't huge, so that's why I was looking at multishot pumps. I was also looking at the Umarex Notos PCP, but I have zero experience with them.

Thank you in advance for the info.
I'd recommend one of the Stoeger XM1 rifles. I have the Ranger, and it is insanely accurate out to 50 yards. You might consider the Scout or bullpup version for hunting.

I'm near Schaumburg if you want to try it out. Are you the same Vanilla Gorilla that has classes at ASC? You can try it there if you want.

so to look out for other people you want to censor my thoughts?

If that’s what you got out of this, you are even more out of touch than it sounded from your response.

Have a great day.

I didn’t censor you, and I certainly didn’t censor your “thoughts”. Even more unrelatable than you appeared. Thought your first post was weird, but you’ve outdone yourself.

Hi Vanilla , I’m always wondering about the reason guys say they’er going to use Airguns for hunting.
The hunting laws are the same as 22lr or shotgun in my state. Compared to a 22lr an air rifle is USUALLY
heavier, more awkward handling, lighter slower projectiles, and more complicated .
Maybe some people have felonies and can use air ?
I bowhunted deer for 30 solid years I didn’t do it for the extra challenge. I did it because of special seasons
and I also live in one of the few small bow only areas in NYS.

Do have a look at the Air Force knock off thread. The regulated Pinty .22 is a heck of a deal with the discount even better 239 bucks for a regulated .22. I got the freight damaged one and am in touch with Pinty to resolve I really like the gun. Accurate and consistent, it's very lightweight but does not feel cheap. Seems to have plenty of power, the trigger is heavy but can be fixed. Great gun for the money assuming they take care of me on the freight damage. They need to put more on the bolt handle to prevent it breaking through the box.

Someone else suggested the Stoegers, and I'm really liking the Scout. Seems like a good compromise between size and functionality. I've never fired a bullpup, but the Hatsans and this stoeger both piqued my interest.

I am not the same Vanilla Gorilla. I looked into ASC for it's longer ranges in order to stretch the legs on my hunting rifle, but it's quite a hike for me, and I don't think I'd go there enough to make it worth the price.
