Squirrel Season Opens Next Weekend In Missouri

How many of you Missouri Hunters will be heading out there? Opening day is May 27th on Memorial Day weekend. Some of us will get an extra day for the holiday. I already got my kitchen pass.
The weather is looking good. Spring temperatures have been on the cool side so far.

All depends on the weather. Will most likely be hot aand humid. Start treating your clothes now with permethrin.

Hot dang. didn't know it was starting that soon. got relatives coming in for Memorial day, but I'll have to get on it after they leave. Got six rifles I've never put to squirrel hunting yet. Will do this year tho.

I will probably be out there with my daughter. She has a single shot .22 Cricket. For me, tough choice between shooting the trusty old .177 R9 or my new bow. The bow is a PSE Xpedite NXT, 80 pound draw, shooting a 595 grain arrow with the G5 small game point on there bahahahahaha.

So, R9, or 80 pound speed bow. Tough one lol

I bet squirrel hunting with a bow is a real challenge. I've never tried it. I'm sure the R9 would be a great choice.

Being from NC, I've never hunted squirrels in the summer. Too hot and sweaty for me. Too many spiders.

I picked up bow hunting not quite two deer seasons ago. First time out had a very close call and almost instant success but i got busted drawing my bow, i am completely addicted. Like a gambler addicted to losing, I have only hunted with a bow since. So i haven’t killed anything in two years!

Still probably won’t kill anything using the bow if my daughter carrying the .22. But with the R9 I stand a chance of getting a few squirrels.

I think i will take the R9. Had a great time shooting it this weekend

I know what you mean. I don't like hunting in hot weather either. I normally wait until October for squirrel hunting but we've been getting unusually cool temperatures in my area.

Howdy all! With Squirrel Season Opening soon I would like to try and Schedule a Hunt/Meetup/Plinking weekend with the local Airgunners. I have access to a few private land farms or we could all get together on some public Conservation areas. The past couples years we have held some meetups...

Used a Taipan Veteran Standard in .22 shooting H&N 15.8 Baracudas at around 890 fps. Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10×40 mildot scope. Primos Trigger tall bipod stick.

I went out this morning. I had four sightings but could not get a shot. It was still a nice morning and felt good to be back in the woods again.
