Squirrels and Tractor Supply fault

I have posted the start of my pellet gun story already but this is to address my impression of my first air gun experience. We have plenty of gun stores in my Albany NY area but try to find an air gun. Online a hour or two before finding Tractor Supply had 2 different Umarex’s.
Knowing nothing about them figured they would be cheap junky toy. Bought the 2 different pellet tins they had and home to unbox.
The rifle came with a scope which I assumed was unusable. Was pretty impressed sure didn’t look or feel like a toy. The rifle is a Synergis
Elite 22. I thought I loaded the mag right but ended up dry firing,, holy poop this is a loud as a standard velocity 22lr ,, spark flying ( dieseling
I guess) hummm sort of defeats the purpose. Might as well use Anguilla sss subsonic 22lr to not alert the neighbors. Anyway went to cellar to
sight in. Much quieter with ammo in it… haa!
This very inexpensive gun is really all I would ever need if I was only using it as a pest deterrent. I changed the included scope for a cheap,
junk but slightly better Meuller 4x14 I had. At 40 feet it puts selected pellets in one ragged hole. I know that doesn’t impress and to put it in
perspective for myself I shot my Sako Quad with Lilja barrel set up for silhouette and sporter bench rest. This shot a 22 caliber round hole.

Well that started it. That was the 3rd of November. So in 17 days I have accumulated 1 Umarex rifle, 1 Reximex rpa pistol, hand pump,
my first red dot sight, buck rail suppressor, bullet trap, $200 cheap Amazon compressor and a dozen various pellet tins.
A pcp rifle and new scope on the way.

Yeah I envy states like Texas that seem to like and support shooting competitions. I am in a club which has a 1000 yard range. Long range shooting is very rare around here. I did compete in ft and ftr class for a year but wasn’t into it with a passion to spend more on rifles. I had 2 f class Savages. I wish there was some more 50 yard 22 benchrest. One local
club has it but lucky to get ten shooters.

Local range has a .22 bench rest 50 yard once a month , they have any .22 you can think of from a stock 10/22 to very high end custom jobs . I shoot right along with them using Air . i am tying to use a springer some time . but i need much more practice before that happens .

Fun can be had with out spend a bunch of money! Enjoy your new equipment. Charles
My problem is I’m a gadget guy. I love researching and buying equipment related to the present hobby I have.
A year and a half ago I got into astrophotography, now 7 Takahashi scopes with numerous cameras and mounts.
Too bad I live where you can barely see the stars naked eye ( slight exaggeration)
