Chuck can stack em without one, he can definitely shoot. But again it isn't about accuracy, full disclosure I have 3 on my favorite (700mm) liners and love them. As well as a 14x20mm 3mm wall one I run on the outside. I like them, I can bounce it around in the woods and POI doesn't move. To each their own but I am admittedly one of those suckers and enjoy it.
Ok fine, I am not as good of a shooter as chuck and having the carbon liner certainly helped my accuracy. Let me clarify further, if someone find the harmonic sweet spot for the barrel then it certainly will be as accurate as a liner with a carbon sleeve. With the carbon sleeve the harmonic tuning is night and day easier for me. Same exact .25 700mm heavy liner before the carbon sleeve I can only get the slugs to be sub MOA at 100 meter at lower speed close to 800 FPS. Above 900 fps my best group was under 2 inches and everything else was bigger. With carbon liner every setting on my impact is no larger than 2 inch at 100 meters and multiple sub MOA groups in the 900FPS range, almost no tuning is required if I just want to hunt. However the effect isn't as dramatic on my 500mm liners because of less harmonic issue but still noticeable better 100 meter groups regardless of the tune.
So to chuck it is 100% unnecessary but to me it is 100% necessary! I just messaged Ernest and begging him to take my money! LOL!
