Starling food roundup!!!!

Weather changing and time for my favorite pest to arrive. The yellow cheese balls get their attention and they scarf up the sf seeds..

Starlings and dry cat food for bait, shot lots of them eating cat food :)

I get those same cheese ball snacks for re-action targets, creatures of the night and the neighbors dogs clean them up

serious? Didn’t know they are into cat food! Do they have a good sense of smell? Seems odd to me a bird will like cat food. Very interesting!

SERIOUSLY,, YES,, starlings , grackles, robins and sometimes bluejays all eat the dry food. I started putting out dry cat food for the neighbors cats, I wanted them for mouse patrol. I get more starlings during a snow, a mild snow that gently falls and leaves snow piled up on a fence post, but in the summer I get very few starlings, but get some all winter long. I now have my own barn cats, that come when they hear the pellet gun, and are upset if it is a starling, not their favorite bird to eat but will if it is cold and they are hungry, they have killed robins but leave them and will NOT eat a grackle, Bobbie-cat says they taste like dog poop,,, they love house sparrows and eurasian collared doves. They like all song birds but they receive no assistance from me, I prefer to place the bird seed where it is difficult for the cats to sneak upon them and I get to use my little Kozak to only shoot the allowed species. I get upset when the little turds snags one of cardinals. But it is funny as heck, they hear the pellet gun and wait for me to lead them to the kill. Sometimes they are watching and I dont see them until I pop a bad bird and see the cat spring forth and claim the victory, before I can set the gun aside
