Skip the stain and lacquer pre mixed combo. Stain then hand rubbed oil with some light steel wool sanding to smooth the surface. Wash, rinse, repeat as needed.

I purchased that 177 from Chris and for the record it had a bad reg oring. the oring was brittle, probably bad rubber in that one. Rebuild the reg and it is a perfect little gun.

I had bought 2 of the 177 kits and barrels from pya. I sold one of the guns to a guy in Hawaii and my friend has the other one. He will not part with it even today.

Tony at Talon tunes had some. 177 vet compacts in stock. I purchased one and another member ordered one also.

Here's a 30 yard target attempt with the Vet compact .177 . I'm getting better holding off for wind anyways. Looks easy but it's like shooting a fly on each attempt.

I just bought a 177 short from Utah, lowered reg, did some tuning and it’s shooting 10.3 at 11.5 fpe foe 160 shots on a fill.

I bought the long slugger from Peaceful Ruler that was for sale. I changed it up a little and have been trying slugs.
it’s the most accurate gun with slugs that I’ve tried yet. A lot of under 1/2” at 50 and 1”@106 yds. I plugged info into strelok and hit a beer can 3 times in a row at 160 yds. Fx hybrids @1018 fps. I’m happy and having fun.

That's a nice Taipan he sold. I wonder how long it will take for him to regret selling it. Good to know it working out for you at long range . I'm look forward to the next time I get to shoot at 100+.
