Tuning Starting settings for 22gr slug out of fx Crown mk2 .22cal. 500 mm barrel.

Hey Folks,

Does anyone have a starting point for tuning a .22 cal. FX Crown mark2 500 mm barrel for reaching "harmony " they would like to share? I do realize each gun is different and this info is only a starting point.

Main concern is accuracy, of course.

Any info would be appreciated.

Reg setting around 160. You should also have a dual transfer port and pin probe. HS set at max. This gun works best with FX hybrids, JSB 25.4 gr KO or NSA 24 gr slugs. Should shoot around 950 fps more or less.

I followed his tuning advice for two Crown MK2 rifles and I’m very happy with the results. I’m shooting NSA 24.8 grain slugs with a 600mm liner but the tuning method is the same. Right now I’m at a reg pressure of 140, front transfer port wheel set at high, rear power wheel set at max and internal hammer spring adjusted to “ neutral cam” plus 20. That will make sense if you watch the video which I really recommend. I’m getting 945fps with those settings.

I've watched Steve's Crown tuning video 4 times now, it imbedded in my memory but still getting my head around the internal neutral cam thing.

So I adjust the internal hammer spring when the external knob is set on 20 ? I'm on the right track?

I use a reg setting of 150 bar. Mine is a mk1 though, with 7gm hammer weight and modified ports, get 50fpe in 500mm

You will have to play with hammer preload to find the sweet spot. Each gun is different!

I’m a photographer and I’ll be in and out of client sessions but maybe we can talk and I’ll give you my recommendations to get you started. Just yesterday I helped a friend with a basic tune in his Dreamline .22. We did it just like Steve in his video and it turned out great.
