Steady your aim with FATBOY Tripods!

Bullet Central is happy to announce that we are partnering with FatBoy to carry their line of tripods. We have both the two section and the three section tripod, along with the ball head and accessories needed to get you shooting. With hunting season starting soon in many states these tripods are a great option to keep your rifle steady. These tripods have a large range of adjustability, and are able to hold any rifle you want to attach to the ball head. The tripods have a listed rating of 100lbs that they can support.

Many of us here in the shop have been personally using these for a while and we have been really impressed.

So if your looking for a great addition to your shooting gear, take a look at the FATBOY Tripods at Bullet Central.

My M8 have a nice tripod ( Manfroetto ) he got years ago, really beefy.
But it have spent some years outside holding a CCTV camera, so no good now.

It is okay though i do shoot from the bench / picnic table, but a tripod like that, and i would only have to move a chair back to the 100 M mark.

I have contemplates shooting lying down from 100 M. and then get a air mattress to lie on as otherwise i would have to dig a hole in the ground for my belly to go into, i dont think with my current form factor that i would be happy just lying on my belly on say a camping mattress or something like that.

A mattress like that i would be able to store on my friends hay loft, and it have a door just about at the 100 M mark

Wow I never saw a tripod with a 100 pound rating , even a tier 1 like Real Right stuff is like 30% less , I love steady equipment and I bet it is rock stable . I see alot complaining of price the RRS ones are actually way over $1k with out a ball head , Now for draw back for us , well it weighs 8 pounds and most units weigh 4 to 4.5 pounds , While it is heavy duty , But in reality weight matters and even the heaviest PCP with a teir 1 scope can top 10 to 11 pounds and most weigh 6 to 7 , it is a but much to carry around , but Me I also shoot ELR and I bet this sucker can handle even the largest magnum calibers like 375 or 408 Cheytec and even the 50 BMG.I have used many tripods and i like the better ones I would not waste money on some china junk which strips out , I been there and done it , I wish them luck and if I was in market I would buy one to test out but I already own a few , I do not feel it is over priced but remember you need to buy a ball head with it to use it ,

They really don't feel all that heavy when you are carrying them. A few of us here in the shop were skeptical as well, but after walking around and shooting with the FatBoys you didn't notice the weight. We shot from other brands of tripods as well, to get as close to a comparison as we could, and honestly didn't notice much in the weight factor.

When comparing the tripod to say a RRS Versa Mk2. The Fatboy 3 section is 1lb heavier than the RRS....BUT... it can hold far more than the RRS. So for heavier rifles from airguns to powder guns the FatBoy is a better option. Also when you consider the price of each, the RRS is $1,100 where the Fatboy is $675!

It's a matter of trade off's.

The problem with using tripods is "oscillation", or the least amount of this aspect one is willing to tolerate. When the wind begins to kick up is when oscillation becomes a greater problem. Tripod weight, construction quality, materials used, the head quality, and the amount of weight put on the tripod for what its rated at, all matter.

I have a older model aluminum Manfrotto 055, a cheap pistol grip ball head on it, and with a heavier rifle or spotting scope its almost unusable when the wind kicks up because of oscillation.
It might as well not be considered a tripod compared to my friends RRS tripod and fancy head as far as putting something of significant weight. I actually sold my Pentax PF100 spotter because it was too heavy for my 055 and I didn't want to buy a expensive tripod back then.
If I buy a tripod again for shooting or spotting again it'll be a heavier one with carbon fiber legs, of decent quality, and I'll spring for an appropriate head.
Right now very low on the bucket list though.

The RRS are very lightweight but you pay for it and I think they are all USA made except for maybe screws??

The Fatboy might be a good compromise between the cheaper stuff and the expensive stuff.

I was able to talk with the guys over at FatBoy and picked their brains for a little bit. I was able to find that the carbon is soured and made in China. The designs and all quality control is done here in the US. Found out that the carbon is 1.5mm thick as well which helps with the rigidity and weight amounts that are posted.

There are many other out there that are made in China as well.

If anything give me a call here in the shop and we can talk about the products. Always happy to talk to you guys
