Hello, my name is Mike, and I am new here. Is it difficult to put on one of the metal receiver covers for the Crosman model 1377?

Here it is. I am sure some of you have ordered and installed the metal part...I hear the polymer one will wear out quickly.

If you're competent with tools and patient and methodical it's very doable. I have a 1322 with the plastic breech and haven't switched it out as of yet. the breech still works great after probably 1500 shots, but what did fail is the tiny screw that holds the rear sight blade. I put a slightly larger screw in and it's fine for now. You'll need a different rear sight with the steel breech (or a scope or red dot sight). If you like working on them there are tons of mods and aftermarket parts available.

Ok, thank you! I've been a machinist for 23 years, so I'm used to working with things of this nature, but I am no gunsmith. I don't mess with any of my firearms as a gunsmith would, and I tend to treat my new found air gun hobby the same way. Does this require any special tools?

Nothing to it except the TINY screw does cause issues, just be sure to clamp the breech to tube ( strong hands can do it, a clamp is nice for most people) so there is less pressure on the assemble when removing/installing said small screw. You may want to bump it up on size if you are able.

Just a good set of gunsmith screwdrivers and a set of USA made allen wrenches. The Crosman uses standard fasteners. And yes, take care with the tiny forward screw which is under the bolt! From what I have read, if you mount a Williams or Crosman rear sight, the front sight post may be too short and cause your gun to shoot high. This is one reason I haven't done the steel breech on mine yet. Check out the green Crosman forum, lots of folks doing custom mods to their 13xx pumpers and 22xx co2 guns.

I'm 12 and I could do it my self my dad just helped me a little but it's very simple the tiny screw is easy to strip though we stepped one one time and it took forever to find a way to tighten it.

Well youtube has a number of videos on that project. I have steel on a couple of mine. The sight you have to change too on the rear will cost as much as some pistol scopes.
