Steiner or Discovery scope

I want to pick this Discovery HS 6-24X50SF scope (made in China) for my Kral Mortal x because the scope itself has a rail mount on top that I need for attaching another red dot/laser sight;

At the same time this Steiner 6.24.50hd FFP scope is well known and made in Germany but doesn’t have that railing.

Is the difference between the two significant when it comes to quality and precision?

I've never looked at the Discovery, but I can tell you from experience that Steiner optics (in terms of optical quality) are disappointing. They're not terrible, just not in line with the cost. The rail shouldn't even be a consideration - you can add that to whatever you pick.

Just get a scope mount or scope rings that can take a reddot on top. I wouldn't attach a reddot straight to the scope.

I don't even see where that scope is even in the steiner lineup. You sure that is not some knockoff? I will take german glass over china if the option comes up. Very happy with my Steiner 1-4. I have japanese, german, philipine and china glass. There is a difference in quality if that matters to you.

Do the Steiners focus in close? The ones I can find only do 25y or 55y minimum parallax distance. That disqualifies any scope from airgun use in my book.

I don’t know; I don’t live in the states but I found a user named dnovo on this forum that said this about a year ago:

“Try Krale in the Netherlands or AirgunSource Canada. Both will accept pay in USD and will ship promptly to the US for very reasonable rates. Bought a Kral Empire XS in .25 on sale by Krale for $496 plus $29 For 3 day UPS TO Wisconsin. Avoid some of the Spanish dealers who charge exorbitant shipping rates and do not respond to issues. Both Krale and Air Source Canada are decent to deal with”

I thought you bought that kral mortal. So I figured you must be overseas to do so ..

It will probably never be sold here in the USA unless rebranded under another brand ...lol. You know we got it sooo good , right?
